Chapter 1: A New Side

Thomas double checks everything is ready before he does his intro to the video camera.

"What is up everybody? I'm doing really well today and I have a big surprise for all of you!" He says pointing at the camera. "But first I need the Sander Sides here; Logan, Roman, Patton and Virgil." He says having each Side arrive shortly afterwards.

Logan rose up in his spot beside the stairs dressed in his usual attire straightening his blue tie.

"Salutations Thomas." He greets him.

Roman rose up in front of the tv humming to himself.

"What a beautiful afternoon and good day to you, Sir!" He says happily.

Patton came up in his spot smiling, "Hey guys!"

Virgil appears in front of the stairs, "We're all here, what's the problem?" He groans unhappily.

"Hey guys, there's no problem actually I have a surprise for you!" Thomas replies grinning.

"Was that it? I can leave now, I hate surprises." Virgil says feeling annoyed.

"Ooh! I love surprises! What is it? What is it?!" Patton says excitedly jumping up and down.

"This is new," Roman points out and gasps, "Is it a noble stead for me to ride?!"

"Surely not, it's for all of us and an equestrian mammal would not vote well in this room. But I too am very curious." Logan points out.

"No, it's not either of those things." Thomas says taken off guard by their guesses. "Everyone meet my Balanced Side; Empathy!" He says introducing them to his newest Side who appears in between Virgil's spot and Roman's leaning against the wall.

"Hey guys! Surprise! You miss me?" Empathy greets his friends grinning widely.

Each Side is momentarily stunned just taking in his appearance; light grey, slight 'v' neck long sleeve shirt, deep blue jeans, a logo on each of his shoulders of a flower with rainbow petals and the yin yang symbol in the center, and his bangs falling over his forehead giving him a laid back look.

"Salutations Logan, how are you?" Empathy asks him first.

"Finally, someone with class, salutations Empathy it's been a long time. I'm doing well thank you." Logan replies with a smile.

"Empathy!" Patton exclaims, "It's so good to see you again! I just want to hug you and pet you and love you!"

Empathy chuckles, "Me too! We'll have lots of time to catch up, Pawton!"

Patton laughs, "I get it because I love cats and dogs."

"Greetings Prince Roman," Empathy says with a bow in his direction, "How have you been my friend?"

"Greetings Empathy, it's been forever! I've got countless tales to tell you of love, heartache, danger, villains and Disney songs! I'm doing fine." Roman replies dramatically.

Virgil glares at Empathy, "Why have you come back?!"

"Back? Back from where?" Thomas asks confused having since then he'd been happily watching them interact with each other.

"We'll talk about that another time, Thomas." Empathy answers Thomas first before turning to Virgil. "I missed my friends; I've been gone far too long."

"Damn right you were, you abandoned us!" Virgil accuses him.

"Calm down Virgil, that's not true. Em had a job to do helping the others, just like he helped us." Patton says gently.
