Hi, everyone. This is my first romantic story. I've been reading a lot of them, and I have this great idea to write one. Gosh, I'm such a romantic at heart. I will really really try not to leave it unfinished. So, I'm going to try writing one chapter each week, except for the week in which I have my exams. That week shall have none, but I'll try to compensate by writing two next week. See how much I try?

Your support and help is required. "REQUIRED". So, look forward to your comments in the box at the bottom.

King Julian Kendrick was seated at the head chair of his magnificent dining table. There were only 2 other seats filled, one by Prince Charles, the future king of Jurooba, and another by his younger brother, Samuel. The King was waiting, a bit impatiently, for the 3rd participant of this rather important meeting. How he managed to get every single time was beyond him. Yet, since this particular meeting held on it the weight of the future of Jurooba, the King waited. He glanced at the clock, and began following the second's hand. Five more minutes and he would be forced to start the meeting without Eric.

The door flew open and the most awaited Prince rushed in, took his seat and grinned at his father.

"Shall we start already? It's so late!" he exclaimed, clapping his hands together with glee.

"Thank you for gracing us with your presence, Prince Eric." the King replied, dismissing his attempt at humor and sarcasm. "Now that everybody is here, I have something important to announce. Charles," he turned towards his oldest, "will be crowned next week."

All the eyes went wide, and Charles seemed like he wanted to object, but the King held up his hand before any of his sons could start.

"I'm not finished yet. You will be 25 next month and still haven't taken on your responsibilites. The neighbouring kingdom's King is younger than you, and already preparing for war against us. It's time you step up to your responsibilities, not to mention the Jurooba is at the verge of dying, and would surely be defeated by the King of Traivia."

Julian paused, and looked at his sons, giving them permission to speak their minds. It was Eric, who spoke, instead of Charles.

"How would making him," he said, gesturing to his brother, "a King save the kingdom? Not that you can make him a King. Not without a Queen."

"He won't save the kingdom, but his bride will. The prophecy clearly states that the queen will-"

"You cannot be serious about it." Eric interrupted his father. "You cannot believe in all this fate, and destiny mumbo-jumbo. You know it's only talk in the air." He explained rather animatedly his opinion about the prophecy. "Besides, I cannot imagine what a girl with a curse can do that you haven't done already."

King Julian had three sons, and while he was very proud of each one of them, he sometimes wished his youngest would be more intuitive like his eldest. And more understanding of the current situation. The Kingdom of Jurooba was at the brink of famine. It hadn't rained in 7 years, and they were running out of the stored goods. Then, there was this impending war against the Kingdom of Traivia, which had grown stronger since last year when King Julian declared war against it. Back then, Jurooba could've won hands tied and eyes blind-folded, but not anymore. Moreover, the conditions in the palace were not very promising. Only last month, there was an attempt at Charles' life. The heir's dinner was poisoned, but neither the assasin was found, nor the poison.

King Julian didn't believe in prenominations and prophecies either, but by God, he had enough. He only wanted to peacefully pass the crown to Charles and retire to travel the world. With no hope in sight, he decided to put some trust in fate. It would be nice if Eric supported his decision.
