I finish off the last curl in my hair, unplugging the curling iron and setting it on the bathroom counter. I fix my bangs as I add the last layer of red lipstick across my bottom lip, checking the clock on the wall for the time. Looking in the mirror for one last check on my outfit, and my freshly painted plum colored nails tapping against the polished granite counter, I decide that I look pretty good. Fiddling with my wedding ring, I walk out of the bathroom. I've been married to Kim Namjoon for three wonderful, blissful years. My husband is the leader of Seoul's most notorious Mafia group, Bangtan Sonyeondan.

I was sixteen when we started dating, and nineteen when he proposed. I am now twenty-two, and Namjoon is twenty-four. Namjoon has been in the mafia since he was sixteen. Now, I have a secret. I secretly work for the CIA department that is assigned to the case on my husband's mafia group. Namjoon isn't aware of this secret, and I am determined to let it stay that way. I've been keeping all the information about the group hidden away from my boss in order to save Namjoon's career and his life. Jeon Jungkook, one of Namjoon's companions, not only works for Namjoon but also works for me, passing on information about their group to me.

I come back to reality while walking out of the bathroom, my heels clicking against the marble spiral staircase. I look up to see Namjoon in his normal black suit and tie that he wears on special occasions, looking me up and down with a newly lit cigarette in his mouth. He smokes the thing once and then throws it in the ashtray next to him, walking towards me and wrapping his arms around my waist. "You look absolutely stunning." He whispers before kissing me softly. I can taste the cigarette smoke wafting off of his lips as our lips touch. "All for you. And this event you're dragging me off to." I giggle. He stares at me and rolls his eyes. "Baby, we can make it through another gala. Just stay by my side, and only answer questions that won't give away my actual career. I promise it won't take very long." He whispers before kissing me again. "I always do as you ask." I reply, putting my hands on his shoulders. Namjoon nods and leads me to the car.

The ride to the event is silent, the only communication we share is Namjoon holding my hand on his thigh. Once we're there, Namjoon opens my door like a good husband should, and we walk inside the giant mansion. "Don't drink too much. And don't hang around other men that you don't know. Make sure to only be around me or the other six boys." He mumbles in my ear. "I know honey. I've been to plenty of these already." I whisper back with a smile. He winks just before Jungkook comes over to us with open arms. "Namjoon hyung!" He says cheerfully as they exchange a hug. "Hyun-Jae, it's nice to see you again." He exclaims as he softly kisses my hand. "Don't be so formal Kookie, we're friends remember?" I ask, giggling at his formalness. "Right. Well, the other hyungs are just wandering around cuz we're bored at this stupid gala, but we're glad you guys could make it." Jungkook replies, playing with his hair.

"I have to speak with the host of the gala, will you excuse me for a moment dear?" Namjoon turns to me. "Of course honey." I reply and nod. "I'll be right back. Take care of her Jungkook, will ya?" He says. "Always have." Jungkook responds. After a goodbye to Jungkook and a kiss on my cheek, Namjoon has left my side. "He's so protective of you." Jungkook suddenly says after my husband has left. "Yes, but I understand he wants me safe. You can't be too careful with a job like the one he carries on his back." I reply, grabbing a glass of champagne off of a passing tray. "Do you have any information for me, Kook?" I ask quietly. "Not as of right now, I mean the group has been pretty quiet. They are searching for their next target, but haven't any clue who they're looking for. It has to be a big mission though, Jimin's been ordering more supplies at Namjoon's command." Jungkook says.

I nod and take a sip of my drink. "Well, if they make any moves, you need to inform me immediately." I reply. "Yes, ma'am. They have visited the orphanage quite a lot lately. We threw a birthday party for one of the little girls that live there. Caroline, I think her name is." Jungkook says. I smile at what he says, Caroline has been Namjoon's favorite little girl at the orphanage since the beginning. He always goes to visit her and check in on her, she sees him as her older brother and he thinks of her as his little sister. She's six years old and has the most beautiful red hair I have ever seen. Bright blue eyes, too. Namjoon was raised in that orphanage, starting when he was three.

He left when he turned fourteen and lived with his sick aunt until he was sixteen, which is when he got into the mafia business. He had promised little Caroline that he would always go back and visit her. And he just adores kids. After we got married we dreamed of having a future family, despite his career choice. During those three years of marriage, we tried for a baby time after time. Heartbreakingly, we never succeeded. It was negative pregnancy test after negative pregnancy test. We thought we would never have kids. That is one reason why I think he goes back to visit those kids. Because we don't have any of our own yet. I'll see tonight if he's in the mood to try again. We haven't tried again in so long. He's been too busy running his mafia business, and he'll come home late at night and just go to bed.

I pull myself out of my thoughts to see that Jungkook has left my side. Namjoon strides back over to me, his eyes begging me to drag him out of here. He snakes his arms around my waist and I look up at his beautiful brown eyes. "You look so sexy in that dress." He smirks. "Do you want me to take it off?" I bite my lip and whisper seductively. "Let's go home." He says raspily before pulling me out of the gala. The ride home is suffocating, the both of us waiting in suspense for our bodies to be connected. As soon as we step inside the house, I kick off my heels and Namjoon carries me bridal style up the stairs. This should be fun.
