She sighed. It was dark out, just the smallest bit of light creeping over the horizon- not even the start of a sunrise but the stars were starting to disappear or maybe it just seemed that way with all the tears pouring out. She wiped her eyes, standing on the sidewalk, waiting for the next car to come.

"He's forgotten me" she whispered miserably. She wasn't referring to a boyfriend or just a normal friend. This wasn't a running away plan or fun midnight plans being stood up. She was referring to her father.

Just over a month ago her mother died of an overdose. Whenever he was around and she wasn't sober she was 'sick' or 'off at work' or something of that nature. Claire never told the Doctor what her mother was like- he knew... he must have, right? She didn't know when her mother started doing drugs so maybe he didn't know.

There they were. Two headlights in the distance. Slowly growing larger. Any second now. She took a deep breath and held it, stepping into the street- tires squealing, the painful feeling of being crashed into by something a million times heavier than you, being thrown into the air, glass breaking and all the while letting out an involuntary scream until.... nothing.
