Am I Human

Freshman day

I wake up from a bad dream and I'm screaming my lungs out. My mother burst though the door sitting on the edge of my bed with a fanatic look on her face. "Lyira are you alright was it the nightmares again, was it something else tell me what happen!" Linda spoke in a chaotic manner. I looked at her with a worried expression trying to think of how i can calm her down before she can has a panic attack. "Mom don't worry it was just another dream ."

I ate my breakfast fast almost in a rush feeling uneasy I was not ready for school. My life would be changing a whole lot now that i was going to be a first year in high school. I heard a car horn and already knew it was Kai waiting to pick me up he's 2 years older than me and already had his license.

I hopped into his little blue truck not ready for school but he was calming to be near with his dreamy bright blue eyes and shaggy blonde hair hanging near the edge of his eyes. He pulled me back to reality speaking,"Lyira what's up you never look so gloomy even after a bad day is everything alright you don't even have makeup on today it's so unlike you.",he sighed and looked to me with worry lingering in his eyes.
"Yeah I'm fine,just didn't sleep well and I'm nervous as hell"
"Why, don't tell me its over school."
"Kind of I don't want anyone to take advantage of me."
"Don't worry Lyira I got you back."
I look out the window think about my dream.
   The dream i had was so terrifying it felt real they always do and i don't want people to think I'm crazy so i never tell them what happens but, it also changes every night with some new horrify nightmare. The nightmares always start the same I wake up in an unfamiliar forest  one that seems like it's right out of a fairy tale. Trees sparkle with the fresh drops of morning due and the streams glitter like crystal it's so beautiful and unreal. The fantasy part always disappears and transforms into a horrific sight. The trees are no longer living but dead and completely drained of life while blood slowly seeps from every opening and the streams run red with dismembered body parts drifting down the current. The worst part is in the middle of all this i sand looking at a distorted image of myself covered head to toe in blood. My mouth looks as though i riped someones throat out, my eyes are solid black with and orange tint near were my iris should be. When i think about this it makes me feel inhuman and the image i see of myself reminds me of a demon who broke out of hell.
     I'm pulled from my thoughts again as the engine of Kai's truck stops and i look out the windshield seeing we have arrived at school. 
"Kai I'm scared what if i don't fit in here what if it's like my last school and everyone thinks im crazy?"
" I told you Lyira don't sweat it i've got your back i'd never let them hurt you in fact why don't you sit with me and the guys at lunch."
  "alright thank you Kai but won't they thinks it odd for you to have a girl hanging around after all you are known as the gay superstar of the football team."
   "Don't worry about it I already told the guys you'd be hanging with us till you get comfortable here and they all agreed to help."
I looked at him relived and just hugged him before getting out of the truck. I pull out my schedule which was neatly tucked into my pocket my first class is English so now to find the classroom. I walk though the hallway feeling eyes on me until i finally found the right room and quickly slipped in. I look to the back of the room seeing an empty desk near the window and I take that seat for now.
     "I hope i fit in but that going to be hard cause the only person her I know is Kai and he's a football player please don't let me mess up i can't transfer schools anymore. I have to make this work its my only option. I think i will try to keep to my self that way everyone leaves me alone this is my fresh start just like I've always wanted.
     "Alex Springwater," the teacher says looking around the class to identify the student. I slowly raise my hand and look at the teacher. She finished roll call and introduced her self as Ms.Law and when over her rules just like any other teacher. I waited in her room till the other students left then I went and found my Math class I had Mr.Baker but, after his class is lunch and I get to sit with Kai and his friends so i'm sure it won't be that bad.
After, class i find Kai and his group in the lunch room and join them as soon as I sit down they all look at me and i felt embarrassed what has he told them. "So this is the Alex we have heard so much about shes rather cute Kai you left that part out man." One of the boys look back and forth between me and Kai. Finally Kai looks at them and says "Did ya'll forget I'm gay i don't look at women for there body unlike you guys, don't get any ideas cause I promise if anyone hurts her you'll wish you were never born." I just sat there looking as stunned as the rest of the guys i have never heard Kai act like that it was not like him but, it was also kinda refreshing to know someone really dose have my back. The guys all looked at him nodding then proceed to introduce themselves. The one with black hair is Damon, The guy who looks like he doesn't sleep is Gabe, and the flirty one is Mark. It was strange how friendly they all were but it was also nice it makes me feel like this year might actually be good.
    Lunch was over and i had two more classes spanish and biology but they went by fast then it was time to go home. I didn't want the day to end , because for once i felt like a normally girl and I know when I get home mom will question me about today and then when I go to sleep I will fill like I'm living a lie once again.
"Mom I'm home and before you ask today I felt normal."
"That is amazing Lyira im so glad to hear it do you think this school will last?"
"I'm not sure yet mom but it might be."
