My father turned to me. "What's wrong sir?" I asked.

He stared at me, as if he was trying to capture my face in his mind.

He was holding a bag. "What's that sir?"

"Jill, you're a brave girl." You have lots of talent. You understand that we arent doing very well financially. Correct?"

"Well, yes sir, I understand." What was he getting at?

"Your mother and I have been doing some serious thinking Jill, and we've talked to Mr. Cornwell. We've decided that we can't afford to take care of you anymore. You will stay with Mr. Cornwell until youre old enough to leave.  And then, well, you are a smart girl. You'll figure something out."

My usual smile faded. The ground started to spin. I nervously laughed. "father you don't understand what you're talking about. Let's go home."

The look he gave me told me that he was not joking. "Don't do this to me. you can't. Don't leave me here." My father hugged me and said he loved me and they walked away."

My boss turned to me "Look I know that was alot. You can take the rest of the day off if you would like."

Still holding corazon, I mounted her and bolted.
