As you look at the index of the book you note that this book alone has 35 chapters each bosting a hefty 50 pages. Luckily you find a note from some kind rouge, in the book he has written a Heavily condensed version of the book (placed in the book its self no less). The cover of the paper reads "for those not wanting to spend their younger years in some gods forsaken history class"
The smaller history paper? Essay? Summary? begins with the founding of the City:
Like many other things with a long history the origin story of Parsantium has fractured and eroded by the flow of time, but the most agreed upon story is that Feck Towerfall with his silver tongue and unmatched charisma was able to gather 100 nomadic clans to band together and settle at the mouth of the river Parsoom. While most historians doubt that it was acutely 100 tribes, there is evidence that supports the notion that a large amount of people did settle the area at one time. The most prevalent is historical records from multiple olden kingdoms stating a sudden lack of harassment from "barbarians". The areas that these kingdoms lay could be lands that these nomadic tribes did travel.
The author continues to on about the extinction of some local pre-recorded species that vanished around the same time the city was supposed to be founded and after a small rant about how "fur is murder" he not so gingerly moves onto the actual history of the city.
The city even in its early days was a power house of tread and commers. Its positions at the mouth of Parsoom made it the middle man for all trade going in land or out to sea. This understandably made the city a coveted jewel for the surrounding kingdoms. The war for Parsantium, also known as The Six Banner War, exploded when Vulyra, the neighboring kingdom, declared a war of conquest on Parsantium. All neighboring kingdoms saw this act and then all simultaneously decided that this was not going to happen and declared war on Parsantium as well as anyone who declared war on Parsantium. The kingdoms all scrambled their retinues and prepared to march on Parsantium.
Vulyra being ready for the invasion was first to make it to the city. After several failed attempts to infiltrate and sabotage the defenses of the city they decided to assault the city in a last-ditch effort to claim glory. The battle of Black Roses resulted in the successful defense of the city at a devastating cost. Parsantium was safe for now but they were still in dire straits. Thebeats of war drums were on the horizon ebbing ever closer and the foreign mercenaryarmies sent for by the city were still months away from helping the beleaguered city. Itwas to the fortune of the city that the surrounding geography forced the enemyarmies to meet each other in order to siege the city. The resulting battles aresaid to have been so bloody that at one point the river ran a sickly red. The blood bath had bought the city enough time to get the foreign legion it had waited for so long. After the kingdoms realized that Parsantium had gained strength and they had foolishly drained their own they sued for peace. Most peace deals resulted in little to no change in terms of land but an outlier is to be noted. King Sith "The Steel Man" DeRoss of Raidium proposed not only peace but also an alliance, this created a mutual relationship between the two sovereign states. Raidium benefits from increased trade coming from Parsantium as its merchants now trust the kingdom more and Parsantium benefits as having a friend capable in the ways of land warfare is a boon in its own way. Seeing the riches flowing from Parsantium it did not take long for other kingdoms to follow the example set by Raidium.
In the peace after the devastating war Parsantium began to grow larger and larger in part to its ever-increasing tread connections and ever-expanding world. Parsantium was a trail blazer, with a huge armada of merchant ships and what seemed like endless funds Parsantium funded dozens upon dozens of explores and adventures eventually leading to the creation of the Adventurer's Guild. Being the first to discover new civilizations across an endless sea comes with benefits. Parsantium was able to secure exclusive trade rights with most of these new and exotic lands thus bringing in new and exotic resources. Some historians say that this is when the city really exploded in economic power being the only source of some new and valuable resources made the city nearly indispensable to some kingdoms.
After the Age of Discovery Parsantium didn't change it's course much since then. It and its people are still looking to make coin in anyway that it can and only the gods can see what is ahead of us.
The author goes onto write about more recent history like policies made by the senate and how they could affect the city but makes and interesting note about a recent cult the author stumbled upon before it stops midsentence and writes "They are in the Library hunting me!?! Oh gods help me" from what you can infer he hid the paper in the book and from there is anyone's guess.
