Jess and a few of her friends went to the beach. They were having a good time, swimming in the ocean and all. But a shark comes up unexpectedly, the shark bites off Jess' foot and bites off Alex's, her friend, arm. Both of the girls got rushed to the hospital. The bleeding was stopped for Jess, but she felt part of her die. You see, Jess does cross country. Since she no longer has a foot, she can no longer participate. Everyone is thankful that's she okay. But all of then forget about Alex. A few days after Jess gets out of the hospital she noticed that Alex hasnt been there for a while. When she asks the others, she is given the devastating news that Alex died from blood loss. But little did any of them know that Alex payed the doctors to do that. Alex has always wanted to run away from her abusive family, so she took her chance but had to tell her friends that she died. Jess was crushed by hearing Alex was no longer with them. But Alex had to leave, and she felt like not telling anyone was the best way to do so. Years later and Alex has decided to return to where shes from. But she has a kid now and shes only 16. Her friends are shocked when she shows up at school. They thought she was dead. Alex explained the story to them and they all understood. A few more years later, Alex dies from cancer. One thing she never told her friends about. At first they thought it was another joke, but then they realised it was the truth. They all fell into depression but kept going until they died from old age. They knew that's what Alex would've wanted.
