"What stands here in front of you Cap is a mental manipulation machine. I'm not going to get much into detail about it considering my love for the element of surprise so, enjoy!" he smiles while he places these little weird circles with pins on my temples and a contraption at the back of my skull.
All of a sudden everything goes dark.
I'm pulled back to the streets of New York, during the alien invasion Loki had sent to Earth that happened a couple of years ago. I look down and see that i'm wearing my classic stars and stripes. Confusion washed over me trying to think of what the hell was going on. I was torn from my thoughts when I hear a familiar yell from around the street corner. I run over as fast as I can and see Natasha laying with her back against the cold ground.
An alien hovered over her, with his weapon impaling her chest.
"NATASHA!" I yell running over and killing the chitauri. I rush back to her and stare into her eyes.
"S-Steve I know I say that-" she coughs up blood while more filled her mouth. Tears prick in my eyes and rush down my cheeks.
"I know I say that l-love is for children-" she speaks, continuing to cough, "But you make it seem not so scary." she gasped managing to get out the sentence, her body then went limp. Her eyes were glazed and her body laid in my arms lifeless. I hug her close in my arms and shake her trying to wake her up.
"N-Nat wake up! Natasha please I need you!" I sobbed, holding her in my arms.
Everything went black again and I woke with a jolt realizing where I was.
"What the hell was that?" I whisper while fear filled my voice.
"This machine shows you your worst fears continuously. Well at least until you're ready to talk." he smirks, making his face level with mine.
"Round 2?" He challenged grinning at me.
"Don't.." I whisper.
Before he says anything back my sight goes dark again.
Anxiety creeps up on me when my vision goes blurry from the intense light flooding my sight. When my eyes adjust I instantly gasp at what laid in front of me.
It was all the people I cared about, lifeless laid in a line. What the hell was happening? This was horrific. I collapse to my knees and bring my hand to cover my mouth. But I notice something was in my hand and when I opened it to reveal my palm, 6 colourful stones were revealed.
"What the-"
Then out of nowhere a hand grabs my forearm frightening me. It was Tony.
"You could have done better Cap. Maybe if you fought better, we'd all still be alive. How come you lived? Liar." He breathed out before landing with his eyes still open on the hard ground.
Terror filled me with what I had done. I killed them. And I was the only one who made it out alive. I felt like dying there and then. I wasn't a hero. Who was I?
I then awake to find myself back in my cell panting and sweating. My mind was in pieces.
"Let me know when your ready to cooperate Cap." the guy says with an evil grin as he walks off and out of my cell. The cell door closes with a clang and the whole room goes quiet again.
After about 10 minutes of just sitting there in shock with my head pounding I look over to Natasha's cell and see her wide awake. She looked petrified. She gazed over to me and our eyes met. Blue meets green. A tear slipped down her cheek like it did when she first saw me like this. I wanted to talk to her and tell her everything would be ok but I knew if the guards heard, they'd be torturing us both right after.
