A Pianist's Hand

Ten fingers gliding on the keys.

Her face is full of glee.

She brings sound to life.

But, she hides her strife.

Hours are spent every day,

Perfecting this sound without pay.

Her curved fingers ache.

Her hands wreath in pain.

This is something that is hard to explain.

This pain doesn't stop her.

She keeps going without a break.

Her arms shake, her hands tremble,

But her soul is awake.

Hours spent away in confinement

Is spent for your enjoyment.

The pianist wants to make souls sing.

So she puts her needs aside.

What you see on stage is just a show.

There is so much more that you don't know.

You don't have to see the tears.

You don't need to know her tears.

Be graceful, be loving.

When you shake her hand be gentle.

After all, she's worked hard.

Her heart smiles on despite what others say.
