Belong:
A simple word
That means so much
But yet, so little.
A necessity to human nature;
Essential to fill the hole we feel
Growing within our beings.
The loneliness that creeps in us
Craves the attention of another.
It’s a beautiful thing,
The friendships that blossom;
Experiences that come along,
With self-worth in tow.
It’s a blessed, wondrous gift.
But in moment it changes.
It’s gone, torn away
By our obsession of comfort.
Everything is different,
Confused by our indifference.
Life’s way is altered by
A simple word
That means so much,
But yet…
… so little.
