The girl with the bumblebee scarf
I wish we could live in a perfect world.
Where racism,
war,
sickness,
poverty;
is non-existent.
The words,
war,
and
violence
are unheard of.
Where we live
in freedom,
equality
and
justice
But we don't
just ask
the girl ,
the little girl
with the bumblebee scarf.
Who sits on the
street corner
of the city
filled with people .
They take little notice
of her as she
sits beneath
them on the
cracked floor .
With her scarf up to her
red nose ;
and
her little ears bare
to the cold .
With her hands
blue from
the cold
and
wet from the rain .
She clutches
a paper cup ;
one with
coffee stains
and
dirt specks all over it .
When people walk by
some look down ;
pity must
have grown
in their
plastic hearts .
They tossed in
old copper coins
that lived at the
end of their bags .
The coins meant
nothing to them
but they meant
everything to
her .
So there she sat ;
The little girl with the bumblebee scarf.
Alone and cold
on the streets
With only the
coins in her cup.
