It was a cool night in Tokyo, Japan pedestrians walking in and out of stores, cars speeding down the highway, and vendors selling exotic goods. There was a never dull moment in the bustling city. Especially, now there's a serial killer on the loose. Tokyo's police department has been doing everything in their power to catch the criminal, dubbed; 無言の死 or Silent Death. This is the scariest killer that Tokyo has ever faced. Everybody, newspaper, website knew about this particular person. Local or not, you knew who the Silent Death is and what they are capable of.

Rules were later needed to stop the killing activity but it didn't help at all, it only lessened the killing spree going on. One to three people were killed each night. Imagine if the rules weren't there, ten people were killed every night. The government set a curfew, 10:00 was the time where everyone needed to be in bed or their secured house/apartment. Everyone followed that particular rule because that's when he would come out. Stores, stations, clubs, and vendors closed even earlier so they could hurry and pack up.

To say no one was scared was an understatement, everyone is scared. Even the infamous mafia gang that had the highest power was scared shitless. No one wished to be face to face with the notorious killer. Rumors say that he's an insane asylum patient that has escaped and is killing people who he thinks have done him wrong, others say a demon has possessed an innocent being and forced him to kill the horrid people that plagued the streets.

It is now silent in the once boisterous city, right as the peace has settled in, loud footsteps and soft pants could be heard throughout the city. It went on for a few minutes, but then it abruptly stopped. A blood-curdling scream soon followed after the few minutes of silence. The whole city woke up. Police sirens could be heard far off into the distance and loud clamoring filled up the city. As soon as the police arrived at the scene a huge group of spectators looked at the victim. It was a young teenage girl. Her body was twisted, cuts ran along her side and onto her back, her eyes were cloudy and white almost like it was lifeless. News vans shortly came after the policemen were trying to block viewers from seeing such a gruesome sight but it didn't help at all. People looked from their balconies and took many pictures and videos of what had happened.

As the investigators were making their way around the crime scene they found something peculiar. It was a footprint made from the blood that was coming out of the adolescent, it was bigger and different than what the teenager was wearing. It looked like it was from an army boot, men's to be exact. Investigators took various pictures and objects from the crime scene to send back to the lab.

Little did they know in the back of the whole crowd, a tall guy dressed in black was observing their movements and was taken aback at the evidence he left. He quickly but quietly left the crime scene and made his way to the back of an alley. He grabbed his hair in frustration and punched the cement building. He cursed under his breath and dialed an unknown number on his phone.

"Hello? Sora?"  A feminine voice said with a fake worried tone. "I saw the news, you done fucked up you idiot. Did I tell you not to do this? Now, look at what happened you stupid ass."

"Shut up Haruhi. You know how much money this brought us. I just need new clothes and a new car right now." Sora said with a slight growl.

"So you can run away? Nah I don't think so. You deserve to be in jail. I don't care about the money, I never did it was just you who thought that it would be spectacular to do this. You knew the consequences, I told you about it. No no scratch that I WARNED you about it." There was a slightly irritated tone in her voice and Sora knew not to mess with her.

"I'm sorry Haruhi, I didn't mean to drag you into this. Just please Haru, I just need to go for a while. To let the crimes die down and then just come back." On the other end of the phone, he heard a sigh.

"Fine, but you owe me for this. Meet me in ten minutes at the back alley a few blocks away from our apartment." Haruhi ended the phone call.

Sora made his way over to the back alley, it was only a few minutes away from where he was. He felt the cool breeze hit his face as he walked with his hands in his pockets, he took off his hoodie and mask to have a better feel of it. His dark brown chocolate eyes were fixated on the path ahead of him and his black charcoal hair blew gently in the breeze, creating a serene setting. He watched the stoplights change but no cars passed by it. Sora reached the back alley and saw Haruhi, her small dainty figure trembling from the cold, she waited with the jet black corolla hybrid and a new set of clothes in her hands.

Haruhi approached him slowly with a scowl on her face "I hate you for this."

"I know you do. But I promise I will be back." Sora said as he hugged Haruhi.

Haruhi pushed him away "You stink, don't hug me." Sora just chuckled and hugged Haruhi anyways.

The embrace was soft and light, no words were exchanged between the two of them for a while until a sigh broke the silence. "I'll call you when the news dies down... I'll miss you ugly." Haruhi looked up at Sora with sad eyes and a small pout.

"Don't worry sis, I'll be okay. I'll look for a job in the countryside and send money to you." Sora ruffled his sister's hair and smiled softly "Just don't do anything crazy while I'm gone."

"I won't, I'm not a crazy bastard like you." They both shared a small laugh and Haruhi gave her brother one last squeeze before moving away and shoving his clothes into his arms. "I packed the rest of your things in the car and some food too."

"Thank you, Haru." Sora took one last look at his sister and went on to the driver's seat, he waved goodbye and started the car. Haruhi tried her best to make herself warm as she saw her brother zoom off into the distance, she sighed and quickly walked back to the apartment.

Sora rolled down his windows to feel the chilly night breeze rather than the artificial one that is coming from the car. He admired the other small cities that were neighbors to the larger and popular one. He saw how there were only a few buildings as he neared his destination. It was now seven in the morning he's been driving for at least six hours to get to Kyoto, his mother's hometown. Many memories flooded back to his mind as he remembered his small town. He brushed them off and went to his small community, on the outskirts of Kyoto. Small houses were occupying almost every space, lines of trees and gardens were all over, and that library. The library where he and his mother used to spend all their time just to read books and find new ones to dive into.

He soon pulled up to his old house. It wasn't too shabby nor was it in good shape. It was a two-story, cream-colored house. He parked his car and got all of the things Haruhi packed for him out. The rusted gate looked as if it was falling off its hinges. The grass was long and tall almost as tall as him. I need to clean this place up. Sora thought, he walked to the door and tried to open it but to his luck, it was locked. He suddenly remembered the hidden key. He looked underneath the mat and there it was, the key to his childhood home.

He unlocked the door and saw dust and spiderwebs collecting on top of the ceiling, he cringed in disgust. And I need to clean too.  Sora put his things down and rolled up his sleeves, even though he was tired he knew he couldn't sleep in this type of environment. He found an old broom sitting in the corner of the kitchen. He only wanted to focus on one room. His old room. He walked up to the creaky steps with a duffle bag and approached the old wooden door. He opened it to see a bed with old sheets, dusty manga books on the shelves, old action figures, and a large poster of an old anime. He dropped the duffle bag on the ground and started to get to work.

He swept the floor, used the broom to take down the cobwebs, and dusted his books and action figures with an old rag he found. He took off the sheets of his bed and left it in the corner of the room, he laid his sleeping bag on to the bed and finished putting away every object back to where they belong. He changed out of his dirty clothes and changed into a white shirt and grey sweatpants. He didn't mind not being able to shower for one night, he was so exhausted from driving and cleaning that as soon as he laid on the bed, he fell asleep.
