A/N: read the note at the end :)

"Dear Jisung,

It feels as if it were last month that a small, shivering mouseling sat crying in front of the Black lake, glaring slightly at the house elf who attempted to comfort you.

Me, being an oddly friendly person, despite hating my entire house, walked over to lend a hand or two(or six, if you count Dex doing his best to cheer you up.) But now, even you wouldn't believe your reaction.

Instead of falling helplessly into my arms like most people would when faced with the world's most stunning Hufflepuff, you slapped me.

In retrospect, I shouldn't have snuck up to you, but I guess my inner Slytherin revealed itself.

Unfortunately for you though, my weird reflexes kicked in, causing you to fall straight into Black lake. Headfirst, at that. Looking back at it now, definitely was a Pensieve-worthy moment.

Despite being tossed into the lake and honestly should have drowned(I kid, I kid!), The squid seemed to have taken a liking to you and brought you back up to the surface. Remind me to thank him next time we pay Headmistress Amber a visit.

I still remember exactly what you said to me(no, that wasn't in the pensieve).

"Gee thanks, did'ya get a good laugh while I was basically taken hostage by a few Grindylows?" Your gorgeous black hair lay matted against your face. Green-lined robes looking ten pounds heavier as you fished out a plant from your pocket.

"Well, Professor Heechul did say he needed to restock his gillyweed..." you took off your robes, opting to throw it onto your shoulder instead.

I would've introduced myself if you hadn't decided I belonged in the water where an angry merman sat waiting. Seemed as though the squid didn't like me all that much as it simply watched as the merman attempted to stab me with it's spear(obviously he missed, but it's still a fact that he almost did kill me).

When I did get out, though, it was as if we called a silent truce to our momentary war, sitting back down on the edge of the bank. I wanted to start a conversation, but thankfully, you did it for me.

"The lake is just so relaxing to me," you started. "There's nothing it can judge you for, it just sits there and let's you talk, throw things into it,and has this weird air of reassurance about it."

I was honestly incredibly confused by this, but I'm not too surprised by that anymore.

"What's even the purpose of getting close to people when they either push you away, leave, break your heart, or all of the above?" The squid reached out a tentacle to pat your head.

"Because it makes us stronger for some of the more difficult parts of life. If we only have smooth sailing and sunny days, we won't be ready for a bit if rain. We'll simply break when the pressure is only just placed on our backs."

You laughed at that, leaning back. "Suppose you're right." I slid off my robes, placing them beside me.

"So, what's your name?" You asked, turning your attention back to the lake.

"Donghyuck." I had answered, "Lee Donghyuck."

"Well, Donghyuck. You kept my attention longer than most of my housemates. I'm Jisung. Let's meet up again next weekend?" You offered. I smiled.

"I'd like that, thank you."

If it feels like last month that we had just met, then it feels like it's only been a week since we became best friends.
