Covering your face in shame and regret, you let the fears fall. You felt like the world was falling, like it was tearing away the ground of which you stood on. You wanted to think about something good, but you could hardly even think with the amount of sobbing you were doing. But soon, you stopped. You sat on your knees and stared into the ground. You were just about to leave, but a voice came. You didn't expect it, so it didn't hear what it said.
"H-Hello?" You choked out. The voice came again. "Hello." Was all it said, but that was enough to make your heart flutter and your mood to shift from bad to good. "Is that you, Guardian?" You asked, full of hope.
Instead of an audible answer, he nodded. You stared, wide eyed. 'He nodded!!' You felt like your heart was going a million miles a minute! You were actually talking to him, the one you loved most! "You haven't answered my question, young one." And just with that, your heart dropped again. "Wh-what question?" You asked, nervously. He sighed. "I asked you if you are doing well. You were just crying, no?" You noticed his head move to the right slightly, as if he was trying to look at you. This made you shiver a bit. You hesitated before replying, "I- Uh... Y-Yes I was..."
You looked down in shame. 'He probably hated the idea that someone like me was crying in his presence.' You thought. "Why?" He asked. You lowered your head more. "I... I'm not sure you'd really like the answer." You muttered. He turned his head a little more. "Young one, do you understand why I guard this gate?" He asked out of nowhere. This made you think for moment. None of the books said anything, nor had you heard anyone tell you such things. "No, I suppose not." You answered. He looked fully forward again.
"To protect you all. I don't want harm coming to any of my friends and family or their friends and family. I do this to help." He turned his head to look at you. It made your blood run cold and your heart feel like it had stopped. You didn't dare move. "I do this to protect and help people. If someone is not doing well, like you, I will help them. Because that's what I do. I help. I protect."
Your eyes widened, your heart sped up, and your face burned brighter. 'Was he saying that he... Wanted to help me? To protect me!? WAS THIS FLIRTING!?'
"So, young one, tell me. Why is it that you came to me sobbing?" You stared at him. His face was so smooth. So perfect. You would say it reminds you of someone elses face but... Unlike him, they still have eyes. As you were staring at him, you realized you still had to answer his question. You sighed, preparing for the absolute worst.
"I... My friend. She had brought me to the fruit trees and she told everyone what I think of you and..." You felt the tears coming back. "She laughed at me. Everyone laughed at me. I... I-I-" You were crying again, but you bit your lip in an attempt to be quiet. 'How could they just laugh like that?? 'I thought this was a place of happiness, not... Not... THIS!!' You mentally screamed at everyone. You hated them, now. You hoped they never had a good moment from this point forward.
"Young one, it will be okay. Look at me, wipe your tears." His voice seemed to be so much more soothing now, but you weren't sure why.
Wiping your tears on your sleeve, you looked up at him. He had completely turned around, looking at you. "Now, I hate to ask this, but what is it that you think of me?" For the hundredth time now, your heart dropped. You couldn't help but put a hand over the area where your mouth should have been. Why? It's not like you can actually vomit. Maybe to feel better? But...
You mentally slapped yourself. 'He asked us a question, damnit! We have to answer him now..' You looked at him where his eyes should be. You started shaking, your anxiety finally settling in every inch of your brain. 'What if he doesn't like me back, or worse, he ends up hating me? What if he also laughs at me!? What if he--'
"Young one?" His voice came again. You flinched and situated yourself in a more comfortable sitting position. Your knees were beginning to hurt. You took deep breathes and blocked out as many bad thoughts as possible. 'He asked a simple question, why was it so hard to answer?!' You shook your head. 'I know why.'
One last deep breath and you began to speak. "Guardian, I'm not sure if you're the type to judge people. But I feel like you will because everyone else did. And it is pretty silly after all." You stopped for a moment, thinking of the right now to say it, "Dearest Guardian, I'm in lo--" "HELLO!?" You looked back in shock. You genuinely didn't expect for someone to interrupt the confession. You looked back at the Guardian and he was getting back into his usual stance.
"Another time, perhaps?" He asked. You nodded. "Yes, of course." You said solemnly. All that time, and you didn't get to tell him a few silly little words. "OH, DEAREST FRIEND OF MINE!! ARE YOU HERE!?" You heard Alvina's voice call in the distance. You wanted to get up and come to her, but you couldn't. Your legs wouldn't allow it. Probably because he was here. With every second her footsteps drew closer to where you sat. You turned your head to the left ever so slightly.
She had just turned the corner and she's seen. She stiffened up and hastily grabbed your arm just to yank you up. "Oh dearest Gate Guardian! I would like to apologise for my silly friend here. If she bothered you I will do anything to pay for her actions." She did a small bow to him and then looked at you. She mouthed the words we have to go.
She stood, grabbed you by the wrist, and dragged you away. Away from him. Your chest ached, the world seemed to be spinning at the speed of a humming bird's wings, and there was a nagging feeling at the bottom of your heart that said 'something bad is going to happen.'

Yeah, I'm making a part two. I'm making some of these stories collide with each other cuz I thought it would be fun ÙwÚ.
Also, over 1500 words, dude. I've never written that much and I feel hella proud lol.
Also also yes, I AM working on two stories at once. Surely these won't end up deleted out of stress (they probably will smh lol).
