Let Me Go

A room. A table. A girl. SHE was that girl.

Locked up in this cell by the very person she loved. Sitting in the corner with her head resting on her knees, she looked at the only source of light in this room. A small window at the uppermost corner of the wall adjacent to the bed she slept on, was radiating light like everything in the world was fine. But her world wasn't. It was black and white. She couldn't even see the light as a ray of hope.'She can see the world again' these thoughts were long gone. Her eyes were dull, empty like a void.

There was no mirror in the room. She could hardly remember her appearance. She couldn't even remember her parents who loved like a princess, her brother who would tease her at everything she did and even that wretched man who locked her here in the name of "protecting" her. She hadn't seen him for..... how long? She didn't know. All she knew was that it had been ages. He said he would protect her, love her and give her the family she always desired.

Initially, he visited her, talked to her and gave her everything she desired, even if it was in this small room. She could tolerate it all, as long as he loved her. As long as he was hers. As the time went by, she saw less and less of him. And one day he came in a wedding suit, announcing that he was going to marry, but not her. NO! NOT HER! ....... He was going to marry a lady from a rich family. Then it became obvious. He loved her. But his love for money overcame his love for her. That day was the first day she cried in this room. This was not a room but her prison.

After his marriage, food came, water was enough but he never visited her. There was a guard outside to watch her. But he kept changing them everyday so that she could never escape.

When he and his wife fought, he would vent his anger out on her. Beat her. Choke her. Harm her with knives. Rape her.

Her once beautiful skin was now covered in scars. Her love for him eventually turned into hate but she could never hate his wife or his children, because they were a stranger to her and her situation. She was never able to blame them.

She could only blame one person - herself. If she had fought back in the beginning, maybe she would've been free now, with her beloved family. Her only regret, till this day, was loving him. This Beast. This Monster

When he came to her cell, she often asked him "Why me?" while crying hysterically. His only answer was "I'll never let you go. You are mine."

After that, she couldn't say anything.

But her heart always cried " Let me out. Let me go. please."
