I woke up. It felt as if it were any normal day.
I stood up and went to the small mirror next to my desk. My red hair stood in all different directions. I have pale skin and I kinda still look short for my age. Through the mirror, my tired red eyes looked at me. Blurry. I looked around the room to find my glasses. I took them, left my little room, and went down the stairs to the living room.
My foster parents were sitting on the couch and were watching TV.
"Morning," I said and went to the kitchen. I made me a glass of milk and returned to the living room.
"Morning, dear,'' said Jen, my foster mother.
"Morning, Noah", said Hunk, Jens husband. I took a sip from my milk.
"Ready for school?" asked Jen enthusiastically. I didn't respond. It's not like I hated highschool. I loved to learn new things, but some guys are kinda mean to me so I'm unhappy to leave the house. I took my schoolbag, left the house, and went to Jen's car. Like every school day, Jen drove me to school.
"We are here,'' she said and I left the car. I put on a fake smile and entered the school garden. Usually on days like these, teenagers were sitting in groups in the grass. I didn't look at any of them because I didn't want to make them uncomfortable . I just went straight to the school building.
"A new guy is coming today! Some people said he is super hot!", said a girl near me.
Yay. A new guy in this school. This is just what we need. No new computers or new teachers, but a new student! I thought.
Suddenly, a hand grasped on my shoulder.
"Where do you think you are going, Ginger Ale?" My body froze. Only these assholes call me that name. The deliquent brothers, Jake and Andy, were standing menacingly before me. As soon as I realized my situation, my bullies already circled me so I wouldn't get out.
Oh shit. They were five. Like always. As soon as I were trapped in their circle and they started to insult me. They gave me stupid names...as always. I just looked at the ground. Oh come on, Noah. Stand up for yourself. Just give them a piece of your mind! I just stood there awkwardly. Like always.
"Look at me, nerd!" Said Andy. I slowly looked up. The guy who talked to me looked at me, disgusted. But I didn't looked at him for long. Something in the background caught my attention. A tall guy was standing there, leaning against the wall of the school building. He wore a black leather jacket. He had tan skin and short black hair. But my gaze flew abruptly to his blue eyes. He stared at me intensely, and it was almost like he was looking right into my soul. I shuddered but I couldn't look away. We stared into each others eyes, none of us willing to avert our eyes.
"Hey, Ginger Ale! Look at me!", yelled a voice next to my ear. My head flew back to Andy. They were still encircling me, but my mind flew to the blue-eyed stranger. I didn't know him or recognize him at school, so I guessed that he was the new student. And he was very handsome.
Stop thinking about him, I said to myself.
"GINGER ALE!", screamed the bullies. One of them came to me. "Now I will teach you a lesson", said he. He lifted his fist to hit me but the school bell went off. The boy dropped his fist. "Now...you are lucky, but this isn't over,'' he said and went with his friends in the school building. I was alone again. My eyes flew to the spot I saw the new student to where he was standing a few seconds ago. But, it was only an empty wall.
I went to my first class. It was uneventful. Like always. I drew something in my notebook. I loved to draw. I'm always tend to doodle something in class. The teacher was teaching us something boring. My mind flew back to the new student and his blue eyes. While I was thinking, I scribbled something in my notebook.
"Ok, class. You can go now", said the teacher. I was about to close my notebook but then I saw what I was drawing. It was the black-haired guy. I drew him during class! He was standing on the wall when I first saw him. I stared at the picture.
"Who is this?," asked someone behind me. I quickly closed the notebook. A girl from my class, Kate, was standing behind me.
"No one", I said hastily. Kate shrugged and left class. Embarrassing! I stood up and went to my second class. In the hallway, I searched in my schoolbag for the books for my next class. Suddenly, I bumped into someone. My notebook, which I was still holding in my hand, fell to the floor. I accidentally dropped it and I tried to pick it up. I ended up seeingi who it landed next to.
"Watch where you're going, little prince. "
My head flew up. I caught my breath. I couldn't believe who is standing in front of me. The new guy. His blue eyes were straight looking into mine. He took my notebook and started to flick through it. No. No. No. No. I tried to take it away from him but he was much taller than me. He can't be 16 years old like me.
Ok, Noah. Be cool.
"Hey that's not yours, give it back!" By the time, I said it, I regretted it. I said it like a 5 year old child. The stranger smiled at me. "Your drawings are very beautiful." I blushed. The guy closed the book and gave it back to me.
"Til' next time, prince", he said and left. I just stood there thinking. Did he call me prince? I gulped. No, Noah. You're just hallucinating, I thought. I didn't know who he was but something was different about him. Odd. Til' the next time, stranger.
The next classes were boring as always. At the end of the school day, I went to one of my classrooms. I had forgotten my math book there. The room was empty. I found my book in the last row. I wanted to leave the room but suddenly five guys came in.
Aww man! Not now! One of my bullies shoved me into the corner of the room. They cornered me once again in the circle. One of them lifted his fist. This time, no school bell will save me.
