Luke's POV

"Look Ash, I just don't think that this relationship is working anymore" I said before she interrupted me. "Did I tell you that my friend is coming to live up here?" She asked, completely changing the subject. I let out a sigh. Ashley is an amazing girl, but it just isn't working anymore. We've been dating for two years and I've wanted to break up for a while now, but every time I bring it up, she changes the subject. "No you didn't" I said. "Well, she is and I'm so excited for you to meet her! We used to be best friends back in high school" she explained. Ashley and I both go to Georgia Southern University. Thankfully it's my senior year and I'll be getting out of here soon. I've always wanted to move to Nashville to pursue my dreams of becoming a country music singer. "When is she coming?" I asked. "I talked to her yesterday and she said that she'll be moving into her apartment within the next couple of days. Isn't that exciting?" She asked. "Sure is" I said in a somewhat dull tone. "Well, I'm gonna head out. I'm gonna finish helping my dad on the farm, so I guess I'll see ya tomorrow" I said as I grabbed my keys off the counter and started to walk out. "Aren't you forgetting something?" She said tapping her cheek. I leaned over and gave her a small kiss before saying goodbye again and heading to the farm.

*later that day*

"I just don't know what to do" I whined. After a long days work, I was finally getting the chance to sit down and talk to my daddy. "Have you tried being honest with her? Telling her how you feel?" He asked. "Every time I open my mouth, she changes the subject and acts like I never said anything" I explained. Usually I wouldn't go to my dad for stuff like this. I use to have a brother, Chris. I told him pretty much everything. He knew about the Ashley situation and how I wanted to end things with her. He never really liked her anyway. He always said that there was someone out there that was meant to be mine, but Ashley wasn't. Unfortunately he died last year in a car accident. That was the worst day of my life. It still hurts to think about it. All I want to do is make him proud and the the only way I can think of to get that goal started, is breaking up with Ashley. I have a sister too, Kelly. She's married now with two kids and another one on the way. "I don't know what to tell ya son, but it's getting late so you should head on home and get some sleep" he said patting my shoulder. I went inside the house, grabbed my keys and kissed my mama goodbye before driving to the local college bar, Dingus Magee's.
