PM Appoints Ali Jehangir Siddiqui Honourary Ambassador for Foreign Investment

The PM (Prime Minister), Imran Khan has appointed Ali Jehangir Siddiqui as honourary ambassador for foreign investment, Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued this notification on Friday. According to the notification: PM is pleased to approve the appointment of Ali Jehangir Siddiqui as an ambassador at-large for foreign investment in honourary capacity in effect from June 13th, 2019.

Ali is a son of renowned businessman and banker, Jahangir Siddiqui, and he is a BA (Bachelor of Arts) in Economics from Cornell University of the United States (U.S.). In 2014, he was bestowed by the World Economic Forum as a "Young Global Leader". In the past, Mr. Siddiqui has served as a chairman of JS Bank and JS Private Equity.

JS Bank was formed in 2006 by Siddiqui after the acquisition of the American Express Bank in Pakistan. He has also served as the Chairman of JS Bank, the bank that has branches in more than 160 cities. Previously, Ali Jehangir Siddiqui has been a member on the boards of the following institutions:

· Board member of the Community Development Board (CDB) of the Government of Sindh

· Board member of the Private Sector Task Force of the Planning Commission of the Government of Pakistan

· Board member of the Board of Investment of the Government of Sindh

· Board member of the Privatization Commission of the Government of Pakistan

· Director of the Acumen Fund (Charity)

· Director and ex-CEO of the Mahvash and Jahangir Siddiqui Foundation (Charity)

Ali Jehangir Siddiqui has also served as a lecturer at various universities that include the College of William and Mary in Virginia, National School of Public Policy in Lahore, National Defence University in Islamabad, Entrepreneurship and Management Excellence Center at Institute of Business Management in Karachi, and School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University in Washington DC.
