Walking (More like limping) around the block I decide to go to Andy's house.
Andy is a good mate of Gary and I.
After the incident that just happened, I would feel safer with Andy and Gary, and knowing that Gary is at Andy's, off to Andy's I go.
After a few more minutes of walking and limping, I finally reach Andy's house. I go around back and begin to climb the drainpipe, already knowing that Andy and Gary are up in Andy's room.
Gary and I created this system of climbing Andy's drainpipe when we wanted to come over because no one really thought we were a good influence on Andy, his parents opinion included. To be fair, Gary and I are not a great influence on anyone, but we need a way to release our emotions, well at least I do.
I make it to the top of the pipe, and basically fall through the window. Andy and Gary pop up and help me up.
"Rose! Jesus Christ what did he do to you this time?!" Gary asks, taking in my appearance.
"I'll grab the first aid kit." Andy says jogging out of the room.
Gary helped me lean against the bed, his eyes scanning my body for any more hidden injuries.
My face is bloodied and bruised, a constant throbbing from my cheek. My left arm hangs limply from my shoulder and has finger-like bruises all over it. I feel a sharp white pain in my ribs whenever I breathe, making it sound like I'm wheezing.
"Rose, why did he do it?" Gary asks solemnly.
"I didn't drive him to work." I say in little breaths.
"I'm gonna talk to him when we get home. I promise Rose, he can't just do this all the time." Gary says.
"No!" I gasp. "Please don't. It'll only make it worse." I say, releasing a small cough.
"I got it!" Andy says, running back into the room while opening the kit. He sits down beside Gary and I and pulls out some peroxide to clean my cuts.
"This'll sting a bit." He says.
"I know." I mumble, wincing as Andy cleans and bandages my cuts.
"Where else hurts?" Andy asks.
"My shoulder, and my ribs." I say out of breath.
"Your shoulders probably dislocated? And maybe your ribs are cracked?" Gary asks.
"Most likely. One of you pop my shoulder in." I say holding it out towards them.
"Excuse me?!"
"What?!" Andy and Gary shout at the same time.
"Pop my god damn shoulder in or I swear to god I'll do it myself." I say through gritted teeth.
"We all know how badly that went last time. I'll do it." Gary says.
"Great, whenever your ready." I say mentally preparing myself for the amount of pain in about to feel.
"Okay. On three." Gary says nodding at Andy to count down.
"1"
"2"
A loud popping sound is heard and I feel a sharp pain followed by a hard throbbing sensation in my shoulder.
"Bloody hell!" I yell.
"Shhhh!" Andy says, trying to keep us down as to not alert his parents.
"Sorry." Gary says chuckling a bit.
"Give a girl some warning next time eh?" I say, joining Gary in laughing.
"And I remember that was the night that Gary, Andy, and I bonded. Like really bonded, they helped me with my pain and I helped them. The other guys are like brothers to me, really they are, and I'm not saying this to be funny but I love Andy and Gary, and I think they loved me too." I finish sharing to my therapy group.
"That's nice Rose. I'm happy you've finally decided to share something about your past." Kelly, our group therapy leader says.
"Yeah, my past hasn't been a nice one, as most of you know. But I think I'm ready to recover, for reals this time." I say with a smile I hope to be convincing.
"Thank you Rose. I'll pass this information on to your therapist." Kelly smiles at me.
"Thanks Kelly." I smile back, and listen to the next fucked up nope to tell their story.
Group therapy is a fucking joke. It's all about sharing and telling a bunch of strangers your life story. The only reason I'm here is because somehow, My fucking abusive brother brought my ass here and told them everything that I've been doing to myself, leaving out the part about him beating me.
"Thank you guys, that'll be all for this week. I'll see you all next week!" Kelly says all cheery.
We all stand and head back to our rooms. Passing security, I show them my Id band and they let me into the west wing of the recovery hospital. I walk down a few cross-cross hallways and find my room. I open the door and close it behind me.
Deciding that I want to look presentable for my stunt tonight, I remove my clothes, and the bandages adorning my arms, and hop into the shower. After using my favourite body washes, I wash my hair and use conditioner on the ends. I stand under the steamy water for a while, taking in the nice feeling before I feel nothing at all. After around 10 minutes, I turn off the water and step out of the shower. I dry my hair and use the curling wand I stole from my therapist in her office, to curl my hair. I put on my white long sleeve shirt, my nicest grey knit cardigan, and my favourite lulu lemon black leggings. I throw on my iconic mint vans that I've owned since high school, they're all ripped and shredded but they're the comfiest shoes I've ever owned. If I'm gonna die, I wanna die being my favourite version of me possible; high school me, from that night. Andy, Gary and I, not to forget Pete, O-Man, and Steve. I tie the noose and hang it to my ceiling fan. Standing on the bed, I open my carton of cigarettes and have my final smoke.
"If there's someone up there, anyone really. I wanna make sure I'm doing the right thing. Give me a sign. Any fucking sign." I say and wait until I finish my cigarette.
I set up the rope, bringing the loop around my neck and tightening it. I toss the butt of my cigarette to the ground, and close my eyes about to step off my bed, when my phone rings. I open my eyes, and look at my phone, noticing an incoming call from Gary.
I accept the call, and shakily put my phone up to my ear.
"H-Hello?" I ask, my voice wavering.
"Hey Rose! How're ya?!" Gary says full of energy just like he used to be.
"I-I'm okay. I miss you and the guys." I say, silent tears making their way down my face.
"I miss you too. Buttttttt, were all going back to Newton Haven! Doing the ol Golden Mile again! And we're gonna defeat it this time! You in?!" Gary asks.
"That's amazing Gary. Id love to. When are we meeting?" I ask Gary, wiping the tears from my face.
"Tomorrow. 3:30. Train station. See ya there Rose." Gary says before hanging up the phone.
"Thank you. Thank you." I say to no one in particular. I remove the noose from my neck and untie it from the ceiling fan. I put the noose in between my mattresses and smile at my phone.
"Thank you for being my sign Gary."
