ORDINARY PROBLEMS.

In every single day of our living we come across struggles that are so unrelenting and unavoidable. We are faced with new challenges each and every day that test our abilities day in and day out be it paying our bills, finding a job to sustain the ever rising economy and only the not-so lazy and creative make to survive it. These are the lucky ones and Gerry was not at all such a person and the struggle was real for the university graduate, at least for the time being.

Gerry is an ordinary guy, one heck of a dreamer at that. Some say he watches too many sci-fi movies but he believes that anything is possible especially for an engineer, and it wouldn't come as a surprise he pursued a degree in electrical and electronics engineering, purpose not just to change the world but change the situation that his wallet was always prone to, being broke. Like any other guy, he had wished to live one fun life from parties with his fellow comrades, with an abundance of booze, girls and the only stress he was to have was the hangover that would hit him the very next day. Sadly the situation never went as he hoped it would and he found himself rocking the typical nerd life in campus. What did this nerd life look like? Well for starters his soul mate, the only being that wouldn't leave his side turned out to be books and handouts from the lectures notes, the parties he went to were engineering seminars that were not so cool in the eyes of his peers but heck at least his liver was having a good time enjoying being healthy. A guy had to find comfort in something.

Needless to say, Gerry still believed the universe had some better plans for him and as he went on with the job hunt he still had high hopes and nothing would bring him down not even the thirty two job interviews he had failed to nail.

"Sorry sir but we may have to ask you to come back and try again the next time," Gerry listened as the HR manager laid this words that pierced deep into his heart wondering if a curse had befallen him or some witchcraft was in play here.

He couldnt believe that a first-class honors graduate like himself from one of the leading universities in the world could be turned down like this. The fire that once burnt bright within was now shimmering slowly on the verge of dimming out.

"What did I do wrong? I did everything the PDFs and videos said I should do in rewriting my curriculum vitae and yet nothing! I should have known they are all a hoax," he said to himself as he slowly walked almost running out of ideas. Random thoughts began to go through his mind of what he should do next, maybe improve his hacking skills and get paid for pulling jobs. Despite all this his moral compass that was well inculcated by his mother and of course Sunday school had yet to leave him and he knew such jobs always ended up badly nonetheless. The bell of the café rang as he walked in and headed over to the counter at his usual spot.

"Hello cowboy, what can I get you today?" the girl on the other-side of the counter asked as she smiled sweetly.

"Why not start with a job," he jested as the girl smiled along looking deep into Gerry's eyes as if trying to get the real truth about the comment while handing to him his usual order of coffee and a burger.

"Havent you found a job yet Gerry?"

"Not yet Vickie, apparently my years at the university werent enough and neither my first-class degree. Its been 2 years now and its as if I am building a career in job searching," he said as he looked at Vickie before pulling away his glance, he was always a little shy around her and probably around every other hot girl around. Vickie was the waitress at this café and she had served him since the very first day he showed up around half a year ago where she had been working part-time and they had sort of grown to each other. She was a university student taking commerce and economics and Gerry almost always joked that he was a good example that too much study was bad which she would sarcastically reply to him with a why dont you let my parents in on that secret. Unknown to her she was the reason Gerry had not given up yet and fallen to the dark side.

"Listen up, I wont stand here listening to you complain and drown in self-pity. Who said that you have to be employed to have money and live a good life? With your skills you could start your own business, fix up peoples lights and electronics before you grow from there dont you think?" she said, as Gerry looked on, burning with a fire that magnified her stunning beauty that couldnt be hidden even with her waitress uniform.

"Do you think I havent already thought of that? I have even tried coming up with cool gadgets but still," Gerry half yelled involuntarily as he reminisced of all the countless hours he had had thinking of what to do and which didnt yield any results.

"From the way you've just talked I can tell you in deed have," she said eyeing Gerry keenly.

"Am sorry, I didnt mean for it sound like that."

"Dont worry about that, I understand. Why dont you wait for me here as you take your coffee and I will be back soon enough as my shift is almost up and maybe I could put my business studies to use," she said as she let out a heartwarming smile before turning around to serve another customer who just walked in. Gerry eyed her for a little longer before turning his attention to his burger as soon as she looked back at him.

"Ooh God I hope she doesnt think am a perv or something!" he exclaimed as he stuffed a burger in his mouth anxiously.
