it was a long day.
but it was finally over.
and to be honest, it wasn't at bad as max thought it'd be.
she had most of her classes with eleven and besides having to watch mike and eleven make out every so often, her first day was pretty good.

"max." eleven looked over to max.
"yeah?" max closed her locker and made eye contact with her bestfriend.
"do you want to hang out tonight?" eleven smiled.
"i guess." max sighed as she put her backpack on.

eleven noticed that max didn't seem to be in the mood.

"you don't have to you know..." eleven raised her eyebrow.
"im sorry el. im just so tired and—" max stared at the floor.

eleven lifted her head up.

"hey. it's okay." eleven smiled. "i have my boys to hang with."
"yeah okay..." max smiled back slightly.
"ill see you tomorrow. but make sure to text me." eleven hugged max.
"i will." max pulled away and left the school.

eleven watched max leave before she turned around to her boyfriend mike.

"ready to leave?" eleven asked.
"what's wrong with her?"
"what's wrong with who?"
"max."
"what do you mean whats wrong with her?" eleven raised her voice.

mike stood back in shock.

"calm down, girl. i was just wondering why she didn't want to hang out!" mike defended himself.
"she doesn't have to hang out with us all the time. she has a life." eleven rolled her eyes.
"does she? i mean, she always used to hang out with us all the time. what changed?" mike scoffs.

eleven was raging with anger and she didn't know why.
but eleven definitely was in no mood for an argument.

"just—lets go to my house okay?" eleven glared at mike.
"alright." mike rolled his eyes and followed eleven outside.

meanwhile, max had arrived home and she knocked on the door.
her older sister maya opened it.

"god dammit max! don't you have a fucking key?" maya yelled.
"you know i don't, dumbass." max pushed maya out of the way as she entered.

she looked around in the living room.
her older brother billy was drinking coke and eating popcorn while watching netflix.
max knew if their mom were home, billy would never be able to do that.

"where's mom?" max asked as she took off her shoes.
"i don't know to be honest." billy's eyes don't leave the TV.
"probably fucking some dude." maya laughs.

max glares at maya before grabbing a snack in the kitchen.

"come join me." billy patted empty space next to him.
"what're you watching?" max stares at the TV, trying to figure out what the show might be.
"it's riverdale." billy smiles.

max falls to the floor laughing.

"your watching riverdale? my brother billy mayfield is watching riverdale!" max continues to laugh.
"yes. what's wrong with that?" billy looked genuinely hurt and offended.

max stopped laughing when she noticed his expression.

"it's nothing." max try's to holds in her laugh. "i just didn't expect you to watch a show like that."
"there's no point in trying to hold in your laugh i can tell your laughing." billy playfully rolled his eyes.
"i'm sorry—" max cuts her self off, laughing hysterically.

billy was a bit annoyed but soon max's laughter made him laugh too.

"see! it's funny!" max said in between her laughs.
"yeah." billy smirked.
