as you finish packing up all of your belongings, your best friend bethany puts a hand on your shoulder with a sad look in her eye. you turn and hug her tight as you begin to sob.

"hey. hey. its gonna be okay, Y/N," she says with a shaky voice as she begins to tear up as well. you both stand there for a few minutes before finally letting go so you can take the box outside. bethany follows behind you. you stand at the doorway before turning around to close it. you walk down the front steps with bethany at your heels. you take a deep breath to say your final goodbyes to her. picking the box up from the ground, you stuff it into the trunk of the car. you climb into the front seat of the car and you wave goodbye before your mom peels out of the driveway. you sit and reminisce about your childhood. growing up in that house; its all you've known; what you'd always called home. you're pulled out of thought when your mom asks if you're excited about the new house. you mumble, "eh. i guess so." you starred out the window for the rest of the drive there.

it was nearly dark when you stepped inside the house carrying some of your belongings with you. you took a deep breath as you stepped into what was now your room. after bringing in the last few boxes, you began to settle in. maybe it wont be that bad. i'll make some new friends and everything will be fine, you thought to yourself.

"y/n, i'm going to the store, do you want anything," your mom called from downstairs.

"no thanks, mom," you called back down. you hear the front door open and shut and you went back to surfing instagram, then decided to put your headphones on. you awoke to your mom calling you down for dinner. you must have dozed off. opening your bedroom door, you headed down the stairs.

"i got some chinese food. your favorite," your mom says with a warm smile.

"thanks, mom," you say groggily, sitting down at the table. a few minutes into the meal your mom asks if you're excited for school next week. with a slight shrug you say, "i don't know." your mom starts giving you that typical mom pep talk thats along the lines of "you'll make great friends" and "senior year will be a blast." when you finished your meal, you went to go take a shower. after about 15 minutes, you stepped out of the shower to dry off. you were extremely fatigued from the long drive to california from kansas. you hopped into bed and put on your favorite show, american horror story. after watching a few episodes of murder house (the first season), you decided to go to sleep.

the week went by surprisingly fast, and before you knew it, it was the first day of school. you quickly put your shoes on and ran for the bus just barely making it. you look around anxiously for an empty seat, spotting one near the back.

"hey. im amanda. whats your name," an emo looking girl jumped into your seat, next to you. she looked like she listened to a lot of my chemical romance and pierce the veil.

"im y/n i just moved here from kansas," you respond nervously.

"cool, cool," she says chewing her gum and blowing a big bubble, "what grade you in, y/n?"

"im a senior, how bout you" you ask.

"oh me too. let me see your schedule. i can help you around if you want," she says, blowing another bubble.

"that would be great actually," you respond, pulling out your schedule for her to look at.

"oh shit. we have all the same classes. this is awesome. you'll have to put up with my obnoxious ass all day long," she chuckles.

"you don't seem that bad to me," you respond.

"hunny, you've just met me. you won't be saying that in a week," she laughs and you laugh along  with her. the bus comes to a stop and everyone piles into the school.

"ERIC!!" you hear a loud shriek in your ear as amanda pulls some boy to you.

"eric, this is y/n, shes new here," she smiles at me, "eric is my best bud, arent you?"

"im only your friend cuz i share my weed stash with you," he responds.

"not trueeeee," she replies, "but that might be part of it," she winks at me.

"so where you from," eric asks you.

"kansas," you say.

"damn thats far" he says. thats when the bell rings and you look at your schedule, completely lost.

"oh cmon. gimme that. hmmm...ms. parkins can wait," she says grabbing your arm and pulling you down the hall.

"w-what" you stutter, confused.

"ugh. lighten up, y/n. don't you want to have some fun this year?" she asks.

"yeah but where are we go-," you're cut short by amanda.

"you'll see," she smiles cheekily.

with eric walking beside her, she pulls you  into a janitors closet and closes the door behind us. she feels around on the wall for the light switch then flips it up. she pulls out a lighter from her pocket, while eric starts rolling a joint.

"woah. woah. i've never..." you trail off.

"smoked before? you gotta try it, man. you're really missing out," amanda says. eric hands her the joint, she lights it, then takes a big hit before letting out a long sigh.

"alright give it here," you say taking the joint from her hand.

"now thats more like it, y/n," she grins as you take big puff. you choke a little and they both giggle. you had to admit, the rush felt great. you could already feel it hitting you.

"how you feelin'," amanda asks eagerly.

"fucking amazing," you all laugh in unison.

"give me that," eric mumbles, snatching it from your hand and taking a long hit. the joint gets passed around a few more times and before you knew it, you are all high as a kite. the three of you sat on the floor giggling at nothing, just staring at each other.

"now this is why you gotta roll with us," amanda says gently punching your arm and you immediately burst into laughter. everything was 10 times funnier when you were high. then you all start laughing again. you check your phone for the time and it was nearly noon. "oh shit guys. its almost twelve o clock," you frantically grab your belongings, "are you guys coming? i have no idea where my classes are. i need your help," you say very anxiously.

"yeah. yeah. i'm coming. help me up," you reach down to help amanda up.

"eric, you coming," amanda asked him. he was still sitting on the floor looking lifeless.

"nah. you guys go. i'll see you at lunch," he replies. amanda and you hurry down the hall to mr. dun's class. we were already 20 minutes late. we burst in the door and quickly found open seats.

"how nice of you to join us, ladies," mr. dun says before finishing scribbling his name in the corner of the whiteboard and turning around to face the class. amanda and you immediately look at each other thinking the same exact thing: "holy shit he's hot!"
