The beginning

Land. Sea. Space. Galaxy's and planets far far far away. However, out of all the places in the whole entire universe I'm here. Sitting on a hill behind my house. Looking up at the sky, and studying all the colors in it. Green, purple, blue, and orange. We don't know what's causing the sky to turn these strange colors. They started a few months ago. They were dim and slowly they got brighter and brighter, and now they ignite the night sky.

No one can explain what seems to be causing them, but I been watching them. Studying them, and everything leads back to... nothing. Unfortunately, nothing seemed to be making sense. The colors were vivid. Imagine yourself sitting on a beach watching the sunset on the edge of the planet, and all of those beautiful colors start illuminating the night sky. It was kind of like that but more. Much more wonderful. All of the colors in the spectrum were visible from the night sky. The colors in the sky swirled together as if they were stained glass.

You wouldn't be able to take your eyes off them. I felt the chills on my skin from the wind. I turn my head to look back at my house. My wife was standing in the window watching me watch the night sky. She smiled at me, and motioned that I come inside. Her name was Lilian. Tall and beautiful. She was also kind. Her heart always seemed to be in the right place. I was married to her for 5 years now. Newlyweds yes, but we had it all. Love, money, and happiness. You see I'm the head scientist that's studying the development of the colors, and my wife her family is very well of, and shes air to her family's fortune. So yes we have a wonderful life here. On the west coast of California. The government placed us here, so we could be closer to the laboratory where the research was being conducted.

I take one last look at the winding lights in the now forming night sky and then walk back to my house.

"What could you possibly want from me now?" I ask with sarcasm in my voice.

She frowned at me, and started waving her spatula at me, "Keep talking shit, watch what happens" she said as she playful then proceeded to hit me with the spatula. "Did you notice anything different tonight?" she asked. Her voice now turning more serious.

I shook my head "nothing...They seem to be getting brighter as the days go by, but what's causing them I just can't figure out." I explained to her.

"Why not bring the research you been conducting to the laboratory you been working?" she asked.

"It's not that easy right now my whole team cant piece this together. I just have to keep studying them until we have a breakthrough".

We ate the rest of the dinner in silence. Nothing was coming to mind about what to talk about right now. After we finished eating I headed back outside, I sat down watching the night beam with colors. I watched them and watched them. I felt the wind under my arms. I really felt the wind under my arms. The wind started picking up. The colors in the night sky were still shining. Getting brighter, and brighter. Usually, around this time the colors die away with the sunset. They have never grown this bright before. My phone started ringing. It was one of my teammates.

"Daniel what's going? What are you guys detecting over there?"

"I don't know I haven't seen anything like this before. Please get over here as fast as you can..." he called and then the line went dead. That's went the horns started singing from the heavens. I around. People were in their back yards looking up at the night sky in awe. I ran inside. My wife looking at me in concern. I have her a quick kiss and told her I had to go. She nodded at me and gave one last hug as I left. Little did I know that that would be the last time I would ever see my wife again. I ran to the car and sped to the Laboratory.

****

I got to the laboratory and ran inside. When I got to my lab I could see everybody running around like madmen trying to figure out what the fuck was going on on the outside. Everything was ringing. Everything was going off. Every major alarm was ringing. Earthquakes where braking out. Tsunamis were hitting every major beach. The world was falling apart.

What the fuck am I supposed to do now?

My head was spinning. I couldn't concentrate on what was going on. There was to much noise. I looked out the window and noticed the colors in the sky started swirling in circles. Daniel ran up to me and started waving papers in my face trying to explain to me what was going on outside. I managed to regain my focus and I looked over at him shaking my head. I took a look at the papers.

"We don't know how the colors are doing this or if they have anything to do with this at all, but the water levels seem to be rising quickly. Cities are slowly being submerged, and since the waters are rising it's causing the plates to shift causing worldwide disaster" I looked over at him.

"What about the horns?" I asked him.

"We don't know yet what the horns are. They are coming from the sky. Again it's like the colors aren't even there. They aren't being detected by our satellites" I look back outside.

"Daniel look" I pointed to the window

"Everyone look!" I demanded.

The colors started fading away from the night sky. I grabbed Daniel by the hand, and took him outside with me.

I looked up and watched the sky turn black in a ray if clouds. The clouds started glowing. the colors seemed to be soaking into the clouds. Becoming one with them. The rain then began to fall and the colors began to engulf me. I looked over at Daniel, who was screaming in pain. He was glowing, but he was turning into nothing. I looked down at my own hands and watched my self fade away into nothing, And just like that I was gone.

***

I woke up the next morning. Business as usual. I sat up from my bed and rubbed my head a little bit. Jeez. I chuckled to my self what a dream. I got up in relief and called out for my wife. I walked over to my bathroom. wobbling around still trying to wake myself up. I looked in the mirror and almost passed. I rubbed my eyes together, and then I tried looking in the mirror again.

I was 18?
