The Reason Why

Prologue

*Alarm ringing*

Ugh! That alarm!
Hindi ba napatay ni Ieca? Anong oras na ba?

Dumapa ako sa kama at tinaklob yung unan sa tainga ko.

*Alarm ringing*

"Ieca~ wake up, your alarm keeps on ringing" inaantok na salita ko.

Walang sumagot sa sinabi ko at tumutunog parin ung alarm.
I hate alarm clocks!

"Ieca~" I repeated

Still, no answer.
Kinapa ko yung kabilang side ng kama pero walang tao don kaya napadilat ako.

"Where is she?" I asked myself.

Umupo ako at nilibot ang tingin sa buong kwarto.
No sign of Ieca, kahit sa bathroom wala.

*Alarm ringing*

I looked at the digital alarm clock.

6:01 am
'Wake up love birds, IecaRues'

I smiled as I read the text on the alarm.
Ieca was the one who bought and set the text of this special alarm clock to me.

Even though I hate alarm clocks, I love this one because she bought it.
At nawawala yung pagkainis ko as soon as my eyes read what's written.

I turned off the alarm first and started stretching my body while still sitting on the bed.

I yawned before I got up.
Hindi naman kasi talaga ako nagigising ng gantong oras, it's just her. She's an early bird.
Maybe mas maaga siyang nagising ngayon.

Pumunta ako sa cr and did my morning routine.
After kong magbihis, I went out of the bedroom.
I excitedly walked to the kitchen expecting to find her there cooking breakfast for us.

But I stopped as soon as I realized something.

I can't smell any food from the kitchen.

I can't hear her singing while cooking.

Or even the sound of the food cooking.

I looked at the living room.

I can't hear the TV playing romantic movies.

I can't see Ieca walking towards me, kissing my cheeks, saying good morning and walking straight to the kitchen to heat our food she already cooked.

I looked at our bedroom.

I can't feel her hands waking me up when I'm still asleep and it's already 11:00 am

I can't see her walking from the bathroom.

I can't smell her scent.

I—-I,

I can't feel her presence.

I roam my eyes around.

The only thing I can feel here now is loneliness and...

Emptiness.

Napahawak ako bigla sa puso ko at napaluhod.

Kahit puso ko di ko maramdaman na tumitibok.

"Skie! Skie! Wake up!"

Napahinga ako ng malalim at napadilat.

Then I saw her.

"Ieca?"

"Bakit ka umiiyak?" tanong ng isang boses.

It's not Ieca.

Biglang luminaw yung paningin ko.

"Huy! Bakit ka umiiyak kamo? Masama ba panaginip mo? Gusto mo kuha kitang tubig? Teka lang" akmang aalis na siya pero hinawakan ko yung wrist niya.

"Iiwan mo ko?" I asked her.

"Anong pinagsasabi mo Skie? Malamang kasi pupunta ako sa kitchen" she laughed at what she said.

I smiled at binitawan ko na siya kaya pumunta agad siya palabas ng bedroom.
Hinawakan ko yung ulo ko na sumasakit at hinilot ko yung sentido ko.

"Eto oh" inabot niya sakin yung glass of water.

"Thanks" I said and drank the water.

After kong ilagay yung baso sa nightstand, parang may dumaan na anghel at biglang tumahimik.

"You know, you can tell me." She suddenly said sa gitna ng katahimikan

I looked at her.

"Pero okay lang naman kung hindi" she shrugged at umiwas ng tingin.

"No, it's fine"

Umupo siya agad sa gilid ng kama at handa nang makinig.

"Makikinig lang ako promise! No side comments!" She raised her right hand then zipped her mouth

I smiled at what she did.

"There's this girl I seriously love" yumuko ako
"Now she's the girl I will never forget that I once have" I smiled.

"What happened?" Tanong niya sakin then covered her mouth "Oops! Sorry! Nakalimutan ko! Hehe >_<"

"She left" I whispered "She left not saying a word. One day, I woke up at nalaman ko na lang na iniwan niya na ako. No sign na darating yung araw na yun na sana hindi na lang dumating" I laughed softly and wiped my tears na tumutulo na pala.

"But... Why?"

Tumingin ako sakanya na nag-aabang ng sagot sa tanong niya na matagal ko na ring tanong sa sarili ko.
Ngumiti lang ako then answered her question.

"Even I, don't know The Reason Why"

*Alarm ringing*

"Oh! Aga mo naman mag alarm. Weekend ha? Iba talaga pag Early Bird eh noh! ^_^" pag iiba niya sa usapan.

Tumayo siya at lumapit sa alarm clock.

"Wake up lovebirds, IecaRus?" she read then turned it off.

Ieca is read as I.ka not Ay.ka.

And Rues is read as Rus. :")
