CHAPTER XI

Suddenly everything went black for a moment before my vision returned and I saw that I was on the floor near the truck.I touched my head and saw Artemis standing next to me looking proud."What happened? Where's Polemistís?"I asked standing up.

"You chose a hide.Polemistís is a part of you right now.I am quite surprised you and Polemistís connected so easily.The other hides are easy to get along with and go with anyone who chooses them.Polemistís puts up a fight though and never calls out to anyone let alone binds to them.You must be really special Genesis Young."She says putting the last trunk in the boot before closing it.

I stand before grabbing my small bag of necessary supplies like first aid,water and fire lighters."So is Polemistís a boy or a girl?"

"The hides are whatever their harbourers are and since you are a girl, Polemistís is female until you unbind yourself from her.She's a beautiful pick that one.Excelent hunter,fast,smart.Best chance you have at attracting Time's attention and not getting caught by one of the Hunters."She got into the truck and closed the door."Good luck out there,Genesis.I hope Polemistís serves you well."

I watch her drive off before making my way into the forest,no longer following the road as per Artemis' instructions.

It has been about four hours since I got here and I have had to hide from at least seven Hunters.I am yet to shift but I will probably have to for the night which brings my attention to the fact that the sky is now occupied by the moon.

My stomach growls and I realise my hunger.I should probably find something to eat but what is there other than rabbits and buck in the forest?

I look around cautiously before jumping out of the tree that I set up camp in.I was at least twenty feet high but since binding with Polemistís, I've been able to do a whole bunch of things I would not have to before,like climb this tree.

I land quietly before walking off to find food.I walk in relative silence,hearing nothing but crickets chirping and frogs croaking,but I stop when I smell something odd.

Polemistís's senses are beyond amazing so I sense when something is off about the forest.It's how I managed to avoid the Hunters earlier.I carry on walking trying to not make it obvious to the person that I was aware of their presence.I sniffed discreetly and smelled rain and roses.

It was about fifteen yards to my left so I went around a tree to my right before climbing quickly and quietly.The footsteps came closer,faster before they stopped below me.The person had strawberry blonde hair and a pale complexion.

"Crap!Where did she go?I swear she was right here and I had her but then BOOM!She flipping goes ninja on me and disappears.I'll never survive the night alone,I need to find that girl as in yest–"

Her rant is cut off by a loud howl and she shrieks before looking around frantically.I can hear her erratic heartbeat from where I am and I roll my eyes before jumping out the tree,landing behind her.

Somehow I managed to predict that she would scream so I quickly covered her mouth and no sound that would attract the wolves came out.

"Shut up."I hissed."I'm going to help you if you help me but I need you to be quiet,please."

She nodded and I took my hand off and she turned so fast I almost got whiplash."You're the one I was following.I don't know why but my wolf thinks you're safe to be around so I was following you so I can talk to you.I'm Adriana."

"Genesis. Can you climb?"I asked her.

"Climb?"

"The tree."

"Umm...I wouldn't trust me to be able to climb more the two feet."She replied sheepishly.

I took a deep breath and nodded."That's fine.We should probably find shelter for the night."

"Yeah.So are you new to the pack?I haven't seen you around before and you smell different.Your aura is different as well,you have almost the same aura as an Alpha.Maybe more powerful."She inquired.

I shrugged."I don't enjoy socializing maybe that's why you haven't seen me.As for the aura,I just exude confidence and self-affirmation.Anyway,tell me about the hunt."

I was being shaken awake and I could hear a frantic whisper."Genesis wake up,I can hear Hunters nearby."

That got me to wake up as Polemistís and I quickly scanned out surroundings.We could hear three Hunters about a mile north of us so we packed our things and bolted out of there.

Suddenly Adriana tripped over a fallen branch and a loud screech tore through her mouth.I glared at her before going back to help her up.Loud howls followed by thundering footsteps filled my ears.

I looked at Adriana whose eyes were as wide as mine."Run!" I screamed,not bothering with being quiet anymore

We sprinted through the forest and I could hear the Hunters hot on our trails.Somehow we got separated and I shouted for her while running.I couldn't hear over the sound of my feet hitting then ground and my heart thundering in my chest loudly.

I heard a growl close behind me and I felt my skin tingle.

I didn't have time to wonder what was going on before I felt my body transform.It was a quick transformation, controlled, showing me just how disciplined Polemistís was.I looked down and saw strong,fury black legs running,that were carrying me.I stretched one arm in front of me and saw a muscled, equally fury black arm and strong hands with long,deadly claws instead of nails.I felt canines when I ran my tongue across my teeth and they were sharp as a sword and I realised which hind I picked;the Warrior.

Polemistís was a war machine.

But I was still a clutz so of course in true Genesis fashion,I tripped and was sent flying down a slope.I hit sharp rocks and protruding branches on my way down but it seemed I didn't make it to the bottom.

Time seemed to slow as I eventually stopped rolling the hill but everything else seemed frozen.

I slowly got back on my feet only to be met with cold,blue eyes."What the hell do you think you are doing participating in a Hunt?"

I shifted back and smiled at the man before me."How about you ask me that again when we get back to the base,Mate."

Before he could react I had already stabbed with a needle that had something that Sheila had guaranteed would knock him out.
