winifred "winnie" ruby watson is a british actress, model, humanitarian and producer. watson is known for her superhero role as heidi bella/ the phoenix in the marvel cinematic universe, her award-winning performances and being a victoria's secret angel.
EARLY LIFE watson was born in the small english town called swindon. her mother, sarah, is a nurse at the local hospital and beauty technician while her father, graham was doctor in the british army. he shortly died when she was very young due to mental health issues. she has three siblings, harmony watson and twins lily watson and rory watson.
her mother is half dutch while her father was half scottish. watson can speak three languages, english and dutch fluently and spanish from when she was at school.
she continued attending a public school despite the jobs and recognition she kept gaining. she was very smart in school although she describes herself as "terrible at maths."
ACTING CAREER 2008 - 2012 RECOGNITION AND THE MCU in 2008, director joe wright wanted to cast a unknown young girl to play briony tallis. he looked into schools in more disadvantaged areas in the uk. watson's school was one of the chosen schools for auditons. this is where she landed her first ever film role in atonement. this ultimately earned her her first academy award and thus she was nominated for many other awards. this film was the starting point for her career, as she was booked almost instantly, however she declined roles for a few years to focus on modelling and her education. she started to act more when she was cast in the marvel cinematic universe in 2011 as heidi bella/ the phoenix. she did not have to audition for the role, merely doing a screen test with robert downey jr and mark ruffalo. both men saying they have never seen someone act that well before. then in 2012, she starred in critically acclaimed intercept directed by bong joon ho
2012- 2017 BREAK AND MORE ACTING after avengers assemble she took a years break to again continue her education and modelling. after this she continued to grow as an actress, gaining roles in films like gone girl, the imitation game, and room. when she was initially cast in gone girl many expressed discomfort as she was only 19 at the time but once the film came out, she was highly praised and it ended up being rated as one of the best performances of the decade. in 2015 she won her second academy award for gone girl. in 2017 she won her third academy award for her role in ladybird. she is the first ever to win this many academy awards at such a young age.
