HERE'S TO KATE

Twelve years ago she was just plain Kate,

Only known as Prince William’s date.

But it didn’t take long for the world to learn

From photographers snapping at every turn

That Wills was seeing a St. Andrew’s beauty.

Catherine Middleton was that cutie.

Unlike Wills’ mother, Princess Di,

Kate simply would not comply.

She became scarce, not much in sight,

Kate knew privacy was her right.

Safety almost became an affection,

Then she insisted on full protection.

But as time went by she began to soften,

Thus in public was sighted more often.

The engagement gift was Wills’ mother’s ring,

The brilliant blue sapphire, a precious thing.

No more break-ups for them for sure,

They’d stay a couple for evermore.

Much has changed from that spring ‘til now,

When Catherine took her wedding vow.

Behind her trailed her younger sist-a,

So glamorous was her loving Pippa.

Some feared she would steal the show

But it didn’t happen; Kate was aglow.

Beside Wills, stood his brother, Harry.

Romantics hoped he would not tarry

To take gorgeous Pippa by the hand

And whisk her off with a wedding band

But for that Harry simply did not care.

He focused on being his brother’s spare.

The Abbey was packed with many a guest,

Dressed elaborately in their best.

The Queen, wearing a shade of yellow,

Was accompanied by a tall, older fellow.

Charles was there and Camilla too.

Her ensemble was an elegant hue.

‘Twas hard seeing Kate from where I sat,

Blocked by Beatrice’s Royal Hat.

Prince Andrew took both girls along

To be a part of the regal throng.

I couldn’t see Fergie anywhere.

What? Not invited? How did they dare?

The world stood still wanting to see

The famous kiss on the balcony.

Thus, so far the U.K.’s duch-ess

Is proving herself a huge success.

When the pair toured Canada in July,

Crowds cheered them on as they passed by.

Public speaking‘s not Kate’s forte

But she’s improving day by day.

And now she has the new dog, Lupo,

Perhaps she‘ll let it steal the show

Whilst the world is waiting to see

When the baby arrives what it will be.
