Niall's POV
2006, California Pre-School, California
"Kids, we have a new friend all the way from Ireland. He's gonna be in your class. Let's say hello to Niall Horan everyone." Mrs. Kathy beamed at the class of 4 year old's, nudging my shoulders to stand in front of them. I remember awkwardly shifting and trying hard to not just combust and embarrass myself. "Hi Niall! " The class waved at me and I immediately felt some of the tension leave my body.
"Go on and make some friends Niall." Mrs. Kathy told me, gesturing towards the tables in which all the other kids sat in groups coloring pictures. I sat at a table which had an empty chair and took out my new set of crayons from my backpack. "Hi ! I'm Liam" The boy next to me smiled warmly. He wore a Toy Story t-shirt and I immediately like him. "Hi, I'm Niall" I told him with an excited smile.
"I know that silly, you told it to the whole class, a few seconds ago" . Liam cackled. "Oh, I'm sorry then" I laughed sheepishly. "It's alright! Can I borrow the green crayon from you? I lost mine yesterday." He asked me politely. "Of course" I smiled brightly, giving him the color. That's how Liam and I became best friends.
"Oi Liam! Did you forget me? I have a green crayon as well" A boy whose features reminded me of Peter Pan, roughly shoved Liam. "Louis! Quiet down please. And do not shove Liam." Mrs. Kathy chided the Peter Pan boy. Louis, stuck his tongue at her, when she looked down into her books, making Liam and I laugh, hence making Louis laugh too.
During recess, we sat down on a bench, eating our packed lunches. This was my favorite time of the day. I loved any food, really. My mom had made me a triple bread sandwich with extra mayonnaise while Liam had got cut up apples and Louis had grapes and a juice box. I did not really pay attention to any conversation as I was enjoying my sandwich.
"Look at that kid! I heard he's from Ireland and speaks really weird. His sandwich stinks like him, doesn't it?" A tall, buff guy with brown hair told his friends and all his other friends started laughing. Louis and Liam were nowhere to be seen. I felt bad, but didn't want to cry in front of everyone on the first day. He walked up to me and shoved me off the bench. My sandwich fell to the ground and my eyes started to water. I felt myself being picked off the ground and dropped onto the floor again. He raised his hand up in the air and brought it down onto my face, except it never reached my face. There was a small hand blocking it from me.
"Let go of him Jay" a pretty voice told him. When I looked up, it was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. She had long black hair, that was half tied up in a ponytail. Her skin was a velvet brown. Her eyes were sparkling brown in the Californian sun. She wore a pink frock that fell to her knees and silver sparkly shoes.
I remember looking at her with my mouth wide open, partly because she was so pretty and partly because she had just punched a guy who looked mean and strong and had called my sandwich stinky. "Get out of the way Sam." the dude, now named Jay told her through clenched teeth. "If you don't stop hitting Niall, I'm telling mom." The tiny girl, who'd saved my life told him. "Fine!" He huffed, going back with his friends to the other side of the playground.
"Hi, I'm Samira" she told me, helping me up, smiling whilst showing me her pearly whites. I blinked at her not knowing what to say and her smile faltered. I felt more sad than the time my sandwich fell to the ground. " You're really pretty" I blurted out. She gave me a flushed smile, and continued " That was my elder brother Jay. He acts like he's really strong and mean but he's not. He just wants to fit in. He's a nice person at home."
I wondered how the two of them could possibly be related. "Thanks Samira." I smiled at her. Louis and Liam appeared by the time. "Did Niall make a new friend?" Louis asked in a sing song voice. Liam slapped his arm lightly and turned towards Samira. "I'm Liam and this is Louis, I'm guessing you've already met Niall. Do you want to sit at our table with us?" Samira nodded her head with a "Common let's go inside".
The most amazing thing then happened to me. I found out that Samira lived next to my house. But that also meant Jay lived right there too. I learnt that she was Indian and her parents had moved here, 10 years ago, while she was born right here in the States, along with her brother. Liam lived right down the street while, Louis lived a street away, right behind ours.
Turns out, Jay was quite nice without his friends. The four of us became the best of friends and remained so. We played with our bikes in the evening and they all came to my house for lemonades on Saturday afternoons. My crush on Samira was slowly forgotten as our friendship grew strong, though it was still prominent at the back of my head. I saw her more like a best friend these days.
Two years later, on the first day of 1st grade, we made 3 new friends: Harry, who had moved from England, and on whom all the girls seemed to have a crush on, but he seemed to like Louis the most, Maya, who was a tall brunette with blue eyes and Danielle, a short brunette with pale skin. The seven of us were then inseparable. They were really the best people ever and the nervous four year old boy from Ireland finally felt at home. ( A:N// Danielle here is Campbell lmao not Peazer. Don't want Liam having 2 girlfriends now, do we).
A:N// do you like this omg? I'm going to update everyday. Also, please like, vote and comment. Thankyou! Louis' Walls literally gives me life!!
