Chapter 4: Goodbye Jaap

I woke up early to the sound of thunder outside my window. It was sometime after the hours of night, but still before the sun would start to rise. I had a beautiful dream last night. I dreamed of Jaap.

We were in a dimly lit room. It looked like a bar, and had a stage  in the back of the room. We were eating dinner together, just the two of us. There was jazz music coming from who-knows-where that set the mood beautifully.

Suddenly, he got up and held my hand and started reciting love sound poetry. All eyes were on us. Even the music stopped. "Y/N,-"

He was stopped suddenly by my waking up and entering a state of reality. If only I got to figure out what he wanted to say. Or what I wanted him to say. Maybe then I would find out my true feelings for the man who consumed my life like an amoeba consuming a spec of dust. Oh, how I wish I could stay in the dream state forever with Jaap, where anything is possible.

I lie in bed for awhile, waiting to reenter the dream world, when I heard a chime come from my laptop. I strolled over to my desk and sat down. One new email. Hopefully this was Jaap. I haven't heard from him in a few days.

To: Y/N

From: Jaap Blonk <blonkblonkblonk@blonk.blonk>

Subject: I'm leaving...

I couldn't believe this: Jaap, leaving? It couldn't be true. I opened up the email, and it started out pretty normally. The usual greeting headed the page. Then he went into why he's leaving. And where.

He's going to live with his boyfriend, Stephen King, in Chad.

And how he's never coming back.

I sobbed for hours once I came to the realization:

I'll never see Jaap Blonk again.
