BACKGROUND!

➳ kyungchan was born in daegu, south korea as an only child. his earliest years were spent almost completely alone, even in school. both his parents worked a lot so they had very little personal time, the time they did have was often spent with each other rather than their son. when he was five, his father moved to osaka for a job, his mother staying in daegu with him so he could finish the school year. that summer after he had turned six him and his mother moved to be with his father. the problems didn't stop there though. after they moved his parents were home only one day a week and only for a few hours at most. the rest of the time kyungchan spent alone mostly trying to teach himself japanese or reading books.
➳ he was actually excited when he started school in japan, excited to show everyone that he had been teaching himself japanese. school didn't go as he had hoped though, he got teased often for being a foreigner and being neglected by his parents. when he was eight he realized he liked boys. he thought it was okay until he told a guy he liked him and the guy socked him in the jaw, nearly dislocating it. rumors of his sexuality started to surface, causing the peer abuse to worsen. one particularly shitty day he was approached by one of his teachers, he told kyungchan that he could make all the abuse go away as long as he did "little favors" for him after school. being the naive little eight year old he was, kyungchan agreed having no idea what he was getting himself into. the sexual abuse from his teacher lasted till he graduated to junior high.
➳ junior high was a bit easier than grade school but he was still harrassed for being gay. high school was much easier, everyone started to give less of a shit about others so kyungchan wasn't bothered too much. his senior year he decided to take a gap year and study abroad in greece. after he graduated he wasn't sure what he wanted to do with his life so he moved back to korea and started studying music at the korea national university of arts in seoul. he only went to school for one year before dropping out and auditioning for several entertainment companies.
