"We can't work out.", he said with a frustrated sigh.
"What's that supposed to mean?! Three years and that cliché line is what you're going to give me?", she held hands close to her chest, afraid her heart would fall out of her chest.

"That's what I've been trying to show you these past few weeks. We're growing apart and I can't deal with it"
"Is there someone else?" ,she asked with a tentative breath.

His hesitation confirmed the fears her head had been pushing at her. "Is she...prettier than me?"
"It doesn't matter now. I love her and I just don't want to be with you anymore."

His final words hit the last nail on her already glassy heart. Sherry nodded and stumbled out of the house. Her tears blurred her vision but all she wanted to was to get out of there as fast as she could.

She got to her car, opened it with shaky hands and sat inside. After calming her erratic breath a bit, she drove away.

Away from his house. Away from his life. Away from the person that had been her sole source of happiness for a long while.

All she could think of as she drove home was how unbothered he had looked as he spat those words at her. Like she hadn't ever meant anything to him. Had all their time together been just a waste of time? All that happiness just thrown away?

She gripped the wheel tighter and fought the tears. "Adrian Hunter, I'll make you eat your words" she fiercely resolved.
