*Everyone in the small town of Sedona, Arizona had been waiting for something exciting to happen, anything at all. But Maybe, when the mysterious Emma Jones enters the town, they get more than they bargained for. . .*

Emma's POV

It's my first day at Fairbridge High School, I'm nervous, more nervous than ever. Before, I hadn't been used to moving around a lot, but ever since everything happened, which then resulted in my life being completely ruined, I have.

My mother is and always has been my hero, ready to move whenever I need to. Unfortunately, that was a lot. Mostly, I move when I feel like my friends, or sometimes curious strangers even, are starting to figure me out, and I never want people to know my secret.

I don't think I could handle it, I've tried to display myself as a closed book, a quiet, shy girl from certain events occurred in the past, and I've worked too hard for that all just to undo itself. . .

That was a massive change, compared to the bubbly, forward child I had always been beforehand.

I'm Emma Jones, a 16 year old girl that honestly, doesn't know what to do with herself anymore. I've never been able interact openly with people the way a normal person should. At this point, I should just let go, but certain people, along the hectic journey I call my life, have ensured that I work hard countinously, never giving in to the horror that I can never manage to stop running from.

As I arrive and stand at the dull, large grey school gates, with the wind whistling in my ears, muddling my thoughts, a voice in my head seems to go, "Here we go again!"

As I stare at my schedule, trying to figure out where all my classes were, that's when I hear a quirky, upbeat voice behind me, a voice that I could possibly learn to love. . .or hate.

"Hi! You must be new here, I'm Lia!" I turned around and saw a girl, more or likely my age with long black hair and deep brown eyes that appeared to be glowing if you looked carefully enough.

'Well, she seems nice,' I thought to myself, maybe this won't be as bad as I think it's going to be.

I do my best to smile and reply, hesitating, still shoked that somebody actually approached me, looking to have a normal conversation, "Yes, Hi, I'm Emma."

She looks inquisitive now, "I haven't seen you around before, are you new in town?" she asks curiously, slightly tilting her head to the side.

I nod with my lips pressed tightly together, praying that she wouldn't ask too many questions. After that, I'm pretty sure she gets the message because she just responds,

"Come on, the bells about to ring, I'll show you to class. It looks like we're in nearly a lot of the same classes."

As we walk, I'm holding my breath, afraid she'll start to ask more questions, and right now I don't have any answers, I don't know if I ever will. Thank goodness, we walk in silence, which I gratefully indulged.

As we arrive in class, I'm reluctant to go inside, after everything that's happened, I've always been extremely behind on my education. But as the years go on, I've been getting tutored, by numerous different people in numerous cities and I think it has actually helped a lot.

I stroll into class as casually as I can, but of course because I'm the 'new girl' everybody stares right through me with burning curiosity. Mostly, I'm known for being clumsy, so as I make an attempt to not embarrass myself. For the first time in forever, it worked!

I'm seated next to a boy called Jacob. As I sit down, he gives me a small smile and shakes my hand. I'm taken aback but I manage a quiet, 'Hi.'

When he tries to talk with me, he seems shy and friendly, even from a short conversation. His voice quiet and you can tell he's holding back, although he's still very pleasent.
