Hi guys, River here (finite-). I started this project after realising that there was a shortage of books on Wattpad addressing a very serious issue - climate change.
I did my research and here are some statistics for you to put it into perspective: As I'm writing this (18.06.19), there are only 425 books dealing with #globalwarming and merely 283 books with #climatechange on Wattpad. This is compared to the thousands of books with tags such as #harrystyles.
Why is this an issue you ask?
Global warming is happening, it's real and it affects all of us. However, there is a stigma that it is too 'boring' to include in fiction. It's not. It's serious. And the lack of it being addressed in literature really does undermine the extent of the issue. My only hope is that we can use whatever platform we have to bring awareness to these issues and the ways in which to tackle them. Especially when it comes to a planet which has already given us so much.
It's time to stop taking things for granted. It's time to stop hurting things that are only there to do us good. It's time to protect, clean and heal planet Earth together.
And most importantly, we need to start talking about it. It's the easiest thing to do. Including it in literature is merely the start but an important start that needs to happen.
