"Don't pay too much attention to others," said Jaehyun. "They may have a hard time seeing us working together."
Taeyong looked up slowly. He met Jaehyun's eyes for the first time today. He knew that the lycan was staring at him since the beginning, which made him uncomfortable.
"We have to start, said the vampire, pulling his notebook and his pen out of his bag. We have a week and I want to have the best grade."
Jaehyun saw the draft paragraphs that Taeyong had already written. He squinted, deciphering the perfect calligraphy.
"What I know: Werewolves hate vampires" read Jaehyun, smiling.
Taeyong tugged at his notebook, hiding his writings with his hand.
"I didn't allow you to read," he whined, creasing his eyebrows visibly disconcerted by the situation.
Jaehyun pulled the notebook and put it in front of him. His eyes quickly scanned the writings under the worried eye of the smaller one.
The wolf caught the fountain pen and scratched the writing. He wrote something just above before returning the notebook.
He had barred the word "hate" and conjugated it with the past.
"No one hates you," he said, putting the pen between his lips.
He crossed his arms on the table and rested his head on it, staring long at the vampire's reactions.
"So, what else do you think you know about wolves," asked Jaehyun, gently shutting his eyes.
Taeyong looked around, still seeing a few insistent glances around them. He lost himself for a moment on Jaehyun's closed-eyed face. He saw that amused look, that simple and confident expression on his face.
"Why do you shut your eyes in front of me ?" Taeyong murmured, his voice trembling. "Aren't you afraid of me?"
Jaehyun opened one eye before closing it.
"Fear? Why would I be afraid of you?"
The vampire lowered his eyes, lowering even more the volume of his voice.
"The bite of a vampire is deadly to lycans."
Jaehyun smiled one more time without opening his eyes.
"Why would you want to do such a thing ?"
Taeyong swallowed, feeling utterly stupid. He squeezed the paper from his notebook between his fingers before picking up one of the books.
"Forget that. We can just... Copy what is in these books," he ended up saying.
"Do you want me to tell you what I know about vampires? You are out-of-date, you are still living in another age, you cling to your old values and old traditions. You haven't known how to evolve and that is exactly why you are going to all disappear." Jaehyun spoke softly, his voice was sleepy and detached.
Taeyong felt a new wave of emotions running through his body as he heard all these things.
"S-stop," he whispered.
"Look at you," continued Jaehyun stretching a smile, "you still think I'm going to jump at your throat. Open your eyes, no one is going to hurt you today."
Taeyong felt tears rising in his eyes. He swallowed his emotions quickly, refusing to be weak in front of the wolf so easily.
"So that's all you think of us ? That we are nothing but outmoded creatures doomed to disappear?"
