Fathers Day Poem

Hi dad, it's been awhile since I've been able to say that.

The days you've been able to make me smile have passed.

Just that thought of those days make me tremble.

I remember just about every one of those days, and dissemble.

I used to feel so alive and well, now I am dead and dull.

Now that I think about it, I was such a tool.

I've written some songs now, can you hear them?

Do they shine, like the brightest gem?

Now you're gone, I hurt some more.

And I wonder what it's all for.

I'm sorry dad, I've done some things.

I can no longer spread my wings.

I'm empty and dull, with everything to hide.

I know I no longer, feel alive.

If I write this poem, will it come along?

Can I sing a song to hear you hum along?

I just want you to know, I'm different now.

Cause I won't allow,

Someone else to come and ruin me.

They can come and set me free.

I have one last thing to utter.

In case this is thrown in the gutter.

Please come back, I can be

Your shining key

You always needed

I always knew that you succeeded.
