After I finished braiding my hair and washing my face, I put on the necklace I got for my fourteenth birthday. All of a sudden, my door bursts open with my panicked mother grasping the door knob. She yells at me, "Althaea, come downstairs to the living room. NOW!" I was starting to join in her panic. My mom was usually calm even in troubling situations. What could cause her so much panic?
Once I got to the bottom of the stairs, I realized what. Outside, my dad was in his dragon form. That's usually normal, ever since I turned fourteen. However, he was not alone. In the middle of the field, my dad was battling with an enormous dragon the same size as my dad. It was pitch black with large, torn wings and glowing eyes that looked like they would pierce my soul. Only one name came to mind; Authask.

(No POV)
In a cave, a small, black dragonling cries alone in an empty nest around the smashed eggs of his brothers and sisters, and the still warm corpse of his slain mother. For thousands of miles, his cries of woe were heard relentlessly for days, until suddenly they stopped. For the infant's heart had hardened and he had ceased mourning his family. He leaves the cave, and wanders, going on a killing spree over game animals and only eating a small amount of his kills.
Three months after he left his nest, he has now developed into an adolescent, and is about half the size he will be as an adult. Becoming bolder, the young drake starts killing humans that are alone. The humans hear this and give him the name Authask. He hears of the title dubbed to him, and gladly accepts it. Although Authask now has infamy and a name, he is nowhere near fulfilling the reputation of what his name will stand for in the future.
Over the course of the next thousand years, Authask slaughters entire cities, and reduces the remains to ashes. His longevity giving him the advantage to continue his vengeance out for an indefinite amount of time. Corruption has long settled in his blackened heart, and his warpath is no longer aimed at just humans. He starts to kill his own kind, anger and hatred shrouding his sanity.
Eventually, the humans and dragons had enough of his indiscriminate rampage. They formed an alliance, and fought back against Authask. The alliance had the upper hand, and mortally wounded him. Authask retreated, through a wormhole created from black magic, to a place where even the best trackers from each race couldn't find him. After he disappeared, the dragons went into hiding, and the humans slowly forgot about dragons, with the only traces of them in myths, legends and fairy tales.
~back to present day~
My dad told me about Authask when I was eleven, but at the time, I thought it was just a fairy tale. As it turns out, it would appear that it is not. As my dad fought Authask, I could hear a strange, loud warbling noise. It was the strangest sound I had ever heard. All of a sudden, Authask bolted up into the sky and let out a piercing screech. Behind him, there was a giant wormhole that looked like it let out into hell itself. Authask flew in, and the next thing I knew, my dad was growling in protest. The wormhole started to suck him in! As soon as my dad was completely absorbed into the blackness, the hole disappeared with a loud bang that left my ears ringing for a bit. "Dad, no!"
