"Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday, dear Jukan, Happy birthday to you!" The said boy's younger brother sang happily, all by himself.

The atmosphere was already dead when the Jeon's family entered the expensive restaurant to celebrate Jukan's 20th birthday.

Mr. Jeon sat back in his seat, crossed arms, and didn't bother to make eye contact with his eldest son by looking at the ground. Mr. Jeon's new wife, Mrs. Jeon, rested her hands on her lap and looked down at the table, feeling a bit awkward. Jukan just layed back in his seat, head tilted a little, and tapped his finger on the perfectly cleaned table while glaring at his father. Meanwhile, Jukan's younger brother, Minsoo, just happily sings and claps his hands without a care in the world.

At the end of the birthday song, Minsoo claps his hands excitedly and wooed. "Come on!" He exclaimed, trying to get his parents to clap for his older brother.

Mr. and Mrs. Jeon reluctantly and boredly clapped their hands, in a slow manner as Mrs. Jeon sighes.

"Great..." Jukan sighs.

"Hurry up and blow out the candles. Come on!" Minsoo excitedly shook his older brother.

Mr. Jeon glanced at his eldest son. Jukan sighed and leaned over on the table to where the cake was. He sighed and hesitantly blew out the candles.

After a few minutes, the food came and everyone starting eating in silence. That is, until Jukan sighed and took a sip of his wine.

"It's my birthday, but there are no cards or presents."

Mr. Jeon glanced at his son.

Jukan also glanced at his father to make sure he was listening and continued his little act. "I'm disappointed."

Mrs. Jeon took a sip of her wine as Mr. Jeon spoke, tapping his finger on the table. "You have a card. My credit card, to be exact."

Jukan looked at his father as Mr. Jeon rolled his glass if wine around as he continued to speak. "I don't have a present, but I do have something to say," Jukan now had full attention on his father.

A waiter and a waitress came at their table and bowed to bring more food to the table.

"Since you're 20 now, you should stand on your own two feet."

Jukan's dark orbs went wide and lightened up. He sat up in his chair in excitement. "Really?" He started adjusting himself in his chair as he sat up more. "Wait, are you going to buy me a house?" He asked, trying to hold back his smile.

"Just a small studio apartment." Mrs. Jeon said, making sure his step-son doesn't get too excited.

Jukan's face slowly turned into a look of disappointment.

"One's independence should start from the bottom." Mr. Jung added.

Jukan grinned. "Oh, please. You started afloat thanks to grandpa's fortune."

Mr. Jeon's eyebrows furrowed in anger. "Hey, Jukan!" He yelled.

Like on cue, the waiter accidently set their food on fire by trying to heat it up. "Shit! Jesus Christ!" The whole table went chaotic as Jukan almost fell out of his chair to get away from the fire, Mrs. Jeon shrieking a bit, Minsoo freaking out, and Mr. Jeon swearing and trying to get away since the fire went on his plate of food.

"I'm here to eat steak, not to be grilled like one!" Mr. Jeon yelled at the waiter who stood their ashamed.

Jukan stood up from his seat as the waiter bowed and apologized. Jukan tried to calm down his father.

"Gosh, the flames! Just get out of my sight!" Mr. Jeon tried to shoo away the waiter. The waiter scurried off in fear.

"It's alright." Jukan tried to calm down his father. "You should've been more careful." He yelled at the waiter to sound all tough in front of his dad.

"My steak's on fire right now." Mr. Jeon complained.

Jukan tried to out the fire by blowing on it and it surprising worked. Mr. Jung looked at his eldest son as Jukan slightly laughs and smiles, trying to calm down his father a bit more.

The two finally sat down and calm down, after what just happened.

"Dad, then..." Jukan tried to bring the conversation back up again. Mr. Jung sighed. "Give me grandpa's house, the one I grew up in." The boy suggested.

"That house?" His father questioned.

"You need someone to clean it anyway," He tried to persuade his dad. Mrs. Jeon sighs and shook her head. "Houses that are cared for last longer. Wouldn't you rather have your son care for it?" Jukan said excitedly.

"It's better than keeping it empty." Mr. Jeon looked at his new wife while Jukan nodded his head.

"Gosh, he's not ready to be independent," Mrs. Jeon worried. "What if he brings girls home and knocks one of them up?"

His parents looked at Jukan sternly as he gave a confused look. "You can't. It's too soon." His step-mom denied.

Jukan looked away, disappointed as he started biting his nails. "Damn..."

Silence..

"Oh, my bad. Our step-mom..."

Mrs. Jeon death glared at Jukan. The boy shook his hands. "No, I mean..I shouldn't have said that since you got married to dad because he knocked you up." His parents looked at Jukan, flustered.

Minsoo went wide eyed and dropped his utensils. "Really?! Wait, was I a mistake?" Minsoo pointed to himself.

Mrs. Jeon looked really pissed.

"Wow, I respect your determination!" Minsoo put up a thumbs up at his mom.

"My gosh! Why would you say such a lie!"  Mrs. Jeon shrieked.

"Enough!!" Mr. Jeon finally bursted out of anger.

Everyone at the table gasped from the sudden outburst and went silent.

Mr. Jeon sighed. "I will drop by unannounced once a week."

Mrs. Jeon looked at her husband in disbelief.

"It must be grandpa's house. I don't want any other house." Jukan told.

"If I find even a single strand of a girl's  hair..." His father paused. "You're coming back home, all right?" He looked at his son.

"I won't have any girls over. I swear on my life." Jukan promised as he picked up a butter knife and slammed his first on the table.

"Damn it. Is that a knife you're pointing at me?" Mr. Jeon asked, a little uneasy.

Jukan apologetically puts down the knife while all smiley. Mrs. Jeon isn't too happy about this whole idea.

"Dad, let me offer you shrimp." Jukan stapped a small piece of shrimp, leaned over the table, and tired to feed it to his dad. "Here you go."

"Leave it, you weasel."

"Come on, try it." Jukan begged. His father grabbed the fork from his son's grasp. "Drop it and sit down."

"Sure." The fluffy haired boy obeyed as he sat back down in his seat while smiling like an idiot.
