The first name on the list of things you love
should be yours.
Only then can you truly love anything else.
Fall in love with the edges, the curves.
Fall in love with that crooked grin,
With the curls that are hardly ever neat.
Fall in love with the marks etched onto your skin,
Speaking of all that you've endured, all that you've conquered.
Fall in love with the crevices, the smooth curve between your neck and your shoulders.
Fall in love with your deep brown eyes
And marks on your wrist left by hair ties.
Fall in love with the spectacle marks on your nose, and your imperfect eyebrows.
Most of all,
Fall in love with your mind, your beautiful mind that has the power to destroy and also the power to create, your mind that holds the secrets of your universe and the mysteries of your being.
Fall in love with the deep dark desires that you hardly even admit to yourself, and accept that you're human.
For when you truly accept yourself as what you are- a flawed, fearless being, only then can you allow yourself to fall for anything else.
