"Why the hell would you do that Peter?!" Tony yelled as soon as he opened the bedroom door.

Peter jumped, not expecting the abrupt entrance but couldn't really be surprised because it was true Stark fashion.

Peter thought over his options. He could explain himself, but that could make Tony more mad. He could stay silent, but that could also make Tony more mad. He could act like he was asleep, but Tony could easily see through that lie as he nearly jumped onto the ceiling a few seconds before.

Peter decided to go to the next best option, making a squeaky noise that just makes him look like the most awkward person in the world. Let's face it, he is.

"Really? Nothing to say for yourself. You PURPOSELY throw yourself in the line of fire to do what? Be a hero? THAT ISN'T BEING A HERO! That's- that's being irresponsible! You almost died Peter!" Tony was now pacing back and forth, rubbing the bridge of his nose so hard Peter was sure he was gonna break it.

"I was jus-" Peter speaks up.

"Just what? Just trying to help? Because you weren't helping. You put us all into a panic, I was sure you were going to die! And then I would have to call up May to tell her that her nephew was killed because he couldn't listen to orders."

"No, I was-"

"Then May would have been angry and upset, and I would have to deal with the fallout because you would be dead."

"There was an alie-"

"I had it handled Peter! You put yourself at risk for no one! That isn't being a hero!"

"No, you were-"

"I had it handled! I was diffusing the bomb!" Tony stopped pacing and turned to face Peter, anger present in all of his features.

"You weren't-"

"I was about to finish too! You had no reason to jump in front of me!"

Peter was becoming more and more frustrated as Tony wouldn't let him get a full sentence out without being interrupted. "No, you didn't-"

"Peter, stop talking. You're making it worse." Tony closed his eyes and rubbed his temples.

"You aren't letting-"

"Peter, stop." Tony demanded.

"No! You stop! You haven't let me say a word yet, and if you had, you would of realized that there was an alien was aiming right at you!" Peter stood up, and walked towards Tony. "And guess who didn't have a suit on because they thought all the aliens left and they just had to diffuse the bomb? You."

Realization dawned on Tony. "Peter.."

"And guess who had nightmares for weeks, hell still does, because they are terrified of losing another person they love?" Peter was now speaking in a low voice.

"You still shouldn't of jumped in front of me, kid. I would have been fine. Right, FRI?"

"If I may boss, the weapon used by the alien would have caused fatal outcomes to the average human ."

Tony faltered for a second, before recovering. "Either way, you almost died. And that can't happen. Even if you do it to save me."

"Are you telling me to let you die?"

"Yes, I am." Tony crossed his arms.

"Do you even know why I became Spider-Man?" Peter crossed his arms in return.

"Yes, your uncle-"

"My uncle died right in front of me because I let him die. Ever since that day, I promised myself I wouldn't let someone else die because of me! So that, the whole letting you die thing, isn't going to happen."

"You have to make an exception, Pete."

"I can't! Can't you understand that! My parents died because of me, my uncle died because of me, and May is probably gonna drop dead because I couldn't save her! It's my reality, and I accepted that, but that doesn't mean I'll do everything in my power to stop it."

"It isn't your reality. None of it was your fault, and my death wouldn't have been yours either! But if you died, if you died that would have been mine." Tony rubbed his nose and sat down on the edge of the bed.

Peter moved to sit next to him. "My parents died because of their work, and I am their work. I should have been on that plane with them, but I wasn't. The mugger that killed Uncle Ben was right in front of me in the store, and I let him leave. I let him leave and he shot my uncle. And the goddamn alien was aiming right at you, and I saw it. So god bless my soul if I let him shoot you and watched it happen."

Tony wrapped his arm around Peter's shoulders. "You're too good Peter."

Peter gave a lighthearted laugh and leaned into Tony. "I've been told."

"You can't do that again. Promise me you won't do that again." Tony whispered.

"You know I can't promise that. That promise would be broken everytime."

Tony bowed his head and lowered his voice. "It would kill me, Pete. You can't put yourself in front of someone else with a gun pointing at them."

"It would kill me if I let someone die. I can't promise that. I have these powers, and I can help people. I can help that kid that is getting mugged on his way to school, or the woman that is being held down by a group of people. I can't ignore that, and I don't think I will ever forgive myself if I don't do everything in my power to keep people save."

Tony gave Peter a tight squeeze then patted his shoulder. "Guess we are gonna have to agree to disagree, huh?"

"Yep." Peter stood up and groaned. "Man, I'm hungry. Shawarma?"

Tony stood up and started walking to the door. "If this is you trying to make it up to me, it's not enough."

"It seems to be working." Peter said with a smirk.

"You're a brat. FRI, get the team up here. Shawarma night."

"Got it boss."
