Cameron opened the door to his house, being greeted by silence, and silence only. He walked in and called out to the empty house "Mum, Dad, I'm home!". He heard footsteps coming towards him and saw his dads figure coming out of the shadows, he had that look about him, the sad look. He asked him what's wrong, he replied "Mum was rushed to the hospital, for an emergency back operation". Cameron's mouth just about dropped to the floor, his eyes starting to tear up, before he could say anything dad told him that he had to go on the bus for the rest of the year.

Cameron woke up early the next morning, hoping what he heard last night was all a dream. He got dressed and went downstairs, hoping to smell his mothers cooking again, he was greeted with the smell of burnt toast and his dad holding a coffee. Cameron made himself un-burnt toast, brushed his teeth and went to the bus stop.

He calmly waited at the bus stop. As the bus arrived, he hopped on and sat next to a boy. Cameron introduced himself to the boy, "Nathan" the boy replied and shook hands with Cameron.

The boys arrived at school and parted ways. "Why does he look so cute... I'm supposed to like girls... the boys are going to tease me if  I say I like a boy!!" Nathan's mind was spinning with Cameron's smile, his eyes also smiled, he was like a light that had suddenly come into his life, but of course he can't like a boy, his parents will be disappointed in him, and surely Cameron wouldn't like him back..

Cameron walked off to his class and sat down next to his friend Sienna, he could spot her because of her stunning reddish-blonde hair. "How ya going honey?" she asks as she fixes her new primary colour nails. "I'm doing alright" Cameron's high pitch voice slipping higher and higher, immediately, Sienna can tell he's going little. She pulls him close to her and heads out to the courtyards.

Cameron squeals as Sienna pulls out his fluffy elephant toy from her bag. She looks at him and smiles as he starts babbling about some guy (Nathan) to it. "Who are you talking about sweetie?" she asks him softly, he looks up from the elephant and starts telling her about Nathan, his smile getting bigger and bigger as he talks about him. As Cameron turns around back to his toy, he sees Nathan walking towards him smiling, trying to hold himself back, Cameron gets up and runs into his arms almost knocking him over. He smiles and laughs softly as he carries the little back to Sienna.

Sienna places the little in her lap, looking at Nathan and inviting him to sit down. "He's a-" Nathan cuts her off "A little, I know". He smiles as he says it leaving Sienna looking shocked beyond at how he knows what little space is. He looks at her and explains "Little space is something that anyone of any age can slip in and out of a mental age, generally a toddler or younger then a teenager. It's an escape for someone when they feel stressed, anxious, upset, angry, frustrated, scared, confused etc." After Nathan finished his sentence, Sienna looked at him in disbelief as he took the little from her lap and put Cameron on his own lap and started to talk to him.

On the way home on the bus, Nathan brought up Cameron's little space with him, telling him not to worry that he is aware of what it is and is happy to look after him. Cameron sat there awestruck and nodded his head viciously while he smiled and slowly started to slip further and further into his headspace.
