Chapter One:

Jhéne

Do you believe in love at first sight? Well, I didn't...at first, but after laying my eyes on him, Kane, I started catching feelings. You would to if you see him. But there's a problem, not only is he four years older than me, but his also Khalil, my brother's best friend.

Every time, he comes around, I get this weird feelings in my belly—I can't describe it. But I hate it cause it makes me nervous.

He is a definition of a walking god, starting from his six foot and four inches frame, brown skin complexion that is mostly covered with tattoos, low, charming eyes that easily pulls me in and voice that comes out deep and raspy whenever he speak.

The Saturday morning sun, peeked through my curtains and into my room as I got dressed in my dark blue jeans, white bandeau top, graphic jacket and slides.

Today my sister-inlaw And also my best friend, Zhavia and I are having our girls day and today is also an important day because I'm going to tell her about my feelings for Kane.

Zhavia is twenty, going to twenty one. She stood at five foot five and is blessed with curves and a cute bubbly personality, which drew my brother attention. Her and Khalil have a daughter two, Kash, my adorable goddaughter.

I applied some lip gloss, grabbed my phone and card than walked downstairs, and not surprise that he was there. You could hear his deep voice and laughter. I smiled to myself then quickly made my way to where everyone was which was the living room.

"Hello," I softly greet making my presence known as I took a seat next to Zhavia. My face scanned everyone's face before it stopped on Kane, who looked back at me with a slight smirk formed across pink plump lips making me look down.

"Jhéne, you ready to go?" Zhavia asks pulling out my trace.

"Uh—yeah, lets go." I said, standing up from the couch.

"Woah, woah, little girl where you think you are going with that stomach of yours all out?" Khalil says, standing up right after me. Here we go with overprotective brother talk.

Khalil and I are the only family we know, which was why he was so overprotective. We lost our father in the army when Khalil was eleven and I was seven and our mother—well let's say that woman doesn't know the definition of a mother.

The death of our father had a huge effect on both Khalil and I, considering he was the only family we knew. So after his death we went stayed with our grandma, but sadly she pasted away few years later. Thank god Khalil was already eighteen at the time.

I roll my eyes and fold my arms, "Zha, tell your boy to leave me alone."

"Baby leave that girl alone and go and check on Kash." She says, referring to their two year old daughter, as she shooed him up the stairs. "C'mon Jhéne, lets go." She says throwing her purse over her shoulders. "Clyde, Kane, Tommy, see you guys in a bit. There's food in the fridge if you guys get hungry." She tells thems.

Clyde and Tommy are Khalil's other best friends, homie or whatever they say.

Clyde stood at five foot ten with a built figure, smooth light brown complexion and eyebrows that was always scrunched together that would make you his mad at the world and his straight face didn't make it any better. But he was really nice—once you got to know him.

Then there's Tommy, the boy couldn't be serious for nothing. He was the total opposite of Clyde. Goofy and funny. He stood around six foot two with a slime body and brown skin. He was the most easy going out of the four. His secretly my best friend.

They said their goods byes, as we made our way to the front door when Tommy called out, "Ayo Jhéne, so you just gonna leave without giving us a hug?"

I playfully roll my eyes before walking back to hug him, then Clyde and then Kane. He swiftly moved his arms and wrapped it around me before letting go, I took the chance to get a swift sniff of him. "Bye guys," I quickly say avoiding eye contacts as I quickly walk away.

I could hear his laughter, but I didn't dare to look back and walked out right after Zhavia.

"Hurry up before we miss our appointment Jhéne." Zhavia complained as we entered into her Matte black Audi R8 and buckled in before she drove off.

I plugged my phone in the aux and immediately started blasting you ain't shit by Sonta and started to rap alone.

"I use to wanna be your everything, but now I don't wanna to be nothing, cause you ain't shit... "

I was just scrolling on my phone, when Tommy says something, making my head shoot up fast. "What's with you and Jhéne?"

"What'chu mean," I ask, hella confused.

"Don't try and play dumb nigga,"  He says being a instigator as always. "You guys be smiling at each other and shit, you hiding something from us?" He says, as Clyde turns to me also.

"You must be seeing things my nigga, cause we ain't hiding shit." I laugh it off with a shrug.

"Do you find her attractive or some?"

"I mean she cute, ain't like she ugly but no I ain't hiding shit."

"So you do find her cute?" Clyde asks.

"Nigga she like nineteen and I'm twenty two about to be twenty three in few months." I said not understanding where the hell he was trying to get at. "I don't even look at her like that."

"And I don't think Khalil would approve either." Tommy says.

No shit, that's his little sister.

"Approve what?" Khalil himself says walking into the sitting-room with my god daughter, Kash in his arms.

Tommy and Clyde exchange looks then began to laugh, making me shake me head. "Nothing."
