"I don't see anybody walking." My said breaking the silence that was actually quite comfortable.
"Told you." I whisper. I glance up at her feeling her eyes burn into me. I shift my eyes away and fiddle with the holes in my sweater, sticking my finger through each hole. It's one of my nervous habits. I know it sounds lame but after lipping at your mom for most the morning, you start to get nervous if she'll get fed up and crack your head. Especially if she's driving, but I feel safe as we turn on the road to my school.
"Oh my lord.." my mom trails off following that her jaw drops. Liz stays silent but her eyes bulge. The school had been completely painted all over, toilet paper thrown over almost every part it could reach, and painted over so nicely on the front of the school taking up the second floor were the neatly painted words, 'where's your god now?' I close my eyes tight and stifle a laugh, I fail horribly and end up snorting instead. My mom reaches over and slaps the back of my head, I cough trying harder not to laugh again, this time succeeding. This was comical to me, my poor mom though, she must be horrified. I dont go to a christian school or anything, there isn't one around so a lot of Christian kids do go here, and the students from the other high school doesn't have so many. A couple times a year students from my school and that school go back and forth taunting the schools. It gets really entertaining. .
Police were in the driveway, with their lights on and they were walking around taking in everything that happened, writing it down on pads of paper. Our car pulls over on the side of the road and my moms turns to look at us.
"I'm going to go talk to the police officer, neither of you two step foot out of this car." She says sternly before walking away. I hate it when she talks to me like I'm Liz's age, what does she think I'm gonna do? Add more to the damage done at the school? Forget it.
"Psst!" I hear off in the distance. I look across the street and see my friend Tony peeking his head around the side of a car. I nod at him and look over at my mom who is almost at the police officer.
"I'll be right back ." I tell Liz softly and climb over to the drivers sea.
"You know moms gonna be so mad when she comes back and finds out that you're not here." liz says smirking at me. I hate it when she smirks like that cause what she really means is she's going to make up a bullshit story where hardly quarter of it was actually true. I give her a smug look and climb out the window to avoid the sound of the door closing.
"I'll be back." I say quickly and run across the street and around the car to Tony. He grabs my hand and pulls me behind the dumpster that was just off of the side of the road where the rest of our friends were at.
"You see that shit over there?" Tony asks, laughing hard. We all peek around the dumpster and look again, laughing harder than before.
"What the hell happened?" I turn and look at the guys. All of them just shrug their shoulders.
"We don't know we just seen it as it is now." I nod and look back over at the school, my eyes landing on my mom.
"I should get going back to the car before my mom sees me." I avert my eyes back to my friends and they all smile.
"Wait." Tony says and reaches into his pocket and pulls out his cigarette pack, pulling a joint out of it. He holds it up offering, not saying a word, just wriggling his eyebrows. I glance quickly back over to my mom and see she's still talking to the cop.
"I guess a few quick hits." I smile and joint the peace circle.
After a quick five minutes I make back over to the car and my mom is still standing over with the cop. I lean in through the window and look at Liz.
