That Metallica video made me cry

That Metallica video made me cry. The first time, I cried a little bit cause that's actually really scary, but then I learned more info on the character and cried for most of the video. (I'm mad and scared that I was the only one who cried). The movie (originally a book) Johnny Got His Gun is about an 18 year old veteran who was bombed in WW1. He survived but he had no face or limbs. They took away his arms and he didn't have a say. He can't tell if he's awake or asleep. The doctors do surgery on him, they think he can't feel pain cause he has brain damage so they think it's a great idea to go take him in without anesthesia. Basically, he feels the whole thing going on and can't do anything about it. He manages to talk to them thro Morse code and he wants to die. The nurse tries to kill him but the doctors stop her cause they're not supposed to kill patients.

See, if you can't enjoy life anymore, see anything, do anything, talk to people, or do basic human things and you just sit there all day going to the bathroom on yourself, there's no point of living. Like elderly people that are too old and don't even realize what's happening to them, they just take craps on themselves and their beds, it's basically the same thing as death. Nothing, not realizing nothing. The man even had a girlfriend and a father but no one can recognize him.

The story is based on a true story on a Canadian soldier who fought in WW1. I also cried cause that had to hurt and they also had to go through hell in the trenches. Some vets had to be in their for three years and water would build up and rot their feet. They could be shot, blown up, starved, frozen, or get covered in dirt and suffocate. Some citizens even get caught up in the "no man's land" which is basically the middle of two countries fighting. Sometimes they could even shoot the same side on accident.

What also made me cry is that, the armies, and even today, are full of dumb 18 year old kids. Some countries, people my age (14 almost 15) and younger are in the military.

My teacher read the book and said he will never read it again. Now, it's my duty to find the book and read it. Like, I'm a happy person, but I like creepy and sad stuff sometimes, too.
