zach sat on the couch looking at the ring, it was the same exact one she wore almost two years ago. tears welled in his eyes as he began to remember that night...

zach walked through the door of their shared penthouse, pizza in hand,

"grace, i have pizza!" he shouted but got no answer,
"grace?" he set the pizza down on the marble counters. it took him almost five minutes to find the girl due to all the rooms in the house. she was on the balcony, crying. that only meant one thing.

"grace?"

grace turned around, eyes wide as she faced zach. she turned back around, quickly wiping her tears then facing him again,

"well you're home early,"  she said as she sat down on a lounge chair. zach sat down with her, her head on his shoulder, he wrapped his arm around her,

"you miss him grace, that's okay. i would be worried if you didn't. he was your best friend, more than that for awhile. i understand, so please you can tell me when you're sad." zach said. tears began to slowly roll down grace's face. she leaned out of zach's embrace.

'that was the first sign.' zach thought as he continued to stare at the ring.

"but it's not zach. it's not at all. i'm suppose to be okay, my life is suppose to go on. shawn would've wanted my life to go on. but i can't. i can't go on zach, i'm so broken. he's not here with me anymore. and i-i wasn't there for him, with him. i hadn't seen him in a whole year," grace sobbed. she sobbed and sobbed and sobbed until she felt like she couldn't anymore.

'second.'

"grace," zach reaches for her hand but she pulled away. she looked at him with such sorrow. he should've know what was coming next.

'third.'

"i can't go on zach, i'm sorry," grace reached for her left hand, zach's eyes followed. tears started flowing down grace's cheeks a million miles an hour. she pulled the engagement ring off her finger and put it in his hand. she closed her hand with hers and rested it there for awhile, "i am so sorry," she said.

zach didn't say a word, he got up looked at her, and began to walk away. he left, without a word. and that broke her. no 'i love you' or 'please grace no', he just walked away. but then she smiled, she smiled because that's just the kind of person zach was, he loved and respected grace, and if she needed time apart, he'd give her that.

she walked inside the house and made her way to the kitchen. she saw a pizza box that was sitting on the counter, she smiled knowing it was from zach. grace pulled out her phone and found his contact, she texted him,

'silly boy, always forgetting i'm vegan.'

he was typing, grace's breath hitched,

'open it.'

she opened it to reveal none other than a veggie pizza. she smiled, because she was happy. she was okay with being alone. she smiled because she knew her and zach would find their way back to each other. right person wrong time, was a real thing, and she couldn't wait for it to be right person right time with zach.

"oh my god," the sound of grace's voice and her dropping her bags startled him. she stared at him with shock,

'so much for a surprise,' zach thought. zach nodded his head. grace began to cry, covering her mouth with her hand. the boys came out of nowhere and stood behind grace.

"so," zach said as he got down on one knee, "will you marry me grace carson?" she nodded her head,

"yes, a million times yes!" she put on the ring that felt all too familiar. zach spun her around and they all group hugged. zach was the first to pull away,

"oh, and i got vegan pizza," he said. they all laughed, grace looked at him and he winked. this is the happiest the both of them have ever been.
