Yama wakes to the smell of pancakes. She is turning seven today. She runs down stairs and sees her father flipping the pancakes. "Buenos días my little Yam," her dad says using her nickname. "Happy birthday," he says as he turns back to the pancakes. "Gracias papa" Yama say with a smile. She runs to get herself a plate. She flaps her tiny wings to try and fly to get on the counter because she is a little too short to reach. When she gets off the ground a little bit she says, "PAPA PAPA LOOK I'M DOING IT!" Her dad puts the last pancake on the plate next to him and looks at her with surprised eyes. "My! You're really doing it Yam!" Yama flies a little higher and lands gently on the counter and grabs a plate.Once her dad made them both a plate of pancakes, they sit down at the table and eat.

After about ten minutes of eating, laughing, and messing around, her dad says this, "I got you somethings special." "Really?" She says with her big red eyes. As she says it, he pulls out a small box. He has never been able to get her anything for her birthday because they were pretty poor.

He gave her the box and she didn't wait. She opened it and say a beautiful necklace with a beautiful seashell.

At the end of the day her dad said, "grab your hood I want to show something." Her horns were still pretty small so it was easy to hide them. When they got out the door, he led her in a direction that they've never went before.

When we got there the sun was setting, she looked around, she saw that they were at the beach. She has never been to the beach,  and even better, the sun was setting so it was the most beautiful sight she had ever seen. Yama ran to the water, took off her shoes, and put her feet into the water. "!Es muy frio!" Yama says smiling and laughing. "UGH!!!" She turns to see her dad on the ground, holding his chest.
