"Katelyn Eve Jones, come down right now or you'll be late!"
I fumbled out of my bed then went straight to the bathroom. I was now going to be late for my first lesson, but who cares? Better late than never.
I finally arrived at school and the hallway is a jungle. It's a very hard jungle to conquer but I am glad that my best friend and I had been one of the popular people in this school, not only because of our good looks but also our brains and family. I slid my way past a few people to go find my locker and as it is my lucky day, Cassidy is already waiting for me. "What's up Cas?" I greeted her.
She looked at me with a glum look then said, "My parents are going to have a party tomorrow evening. They say that I have to mingle with guys so that I could find a future husband." I grabbed my books then we started walking to our room. She kept telling me how awful it would be or what if she won't find the guy who would match her. "Don't worry Cas. I know everything's going to be fine." And as I said that, I received a text from my mother.
Mommy 💕
Katelyn you're going to join Cassidy's party tomorrow. You'll have to mingle with eligible bachelors as well.
I turned to Cas, she read the text and gave me a small smile. "At least it's the both of us now." And if you're wondering why I am going to find a man for myself, well it is because my parents and Cassidy's parents have a partnership. So if I were to marry a man with a high status and Cassidy would do the same then it would do good for the company.
The party came in like a tornado, and yes I am at the party right now. Cassidy is already doing some mingling while I stand in a corner. I don't want to mingle, but I have to. So here I am, going to mingle with eligible men. A few curtsies here and few smiles there, I danced with a few of them but they really aren't my type. I decided to go grab a drink for myself, I was watching Cassidy, she is the life of this party. She's the envy of all, also the gossip in town. As for me, I am like her sister and she always put me first before others. I continued to watch her gliding in the room entertaining men and women. I wonder what would it feel to be like her.
I noticed my drink was already gone so I went back to get a refill, when I saw a man right about my age. He is handsome indeed and has a tall figure. He'd be perfect for me.
"Cassidy." I said with a hint of excitement in my tone. She smiled at me then said, "What's up Kate? Found the perfect man?" Her eyes were gleaming as well, I guess she found her man too.
"Of course I did. Behind you." I winked. She checked the guy behind her and I noticed the gleam in her eyes slowly fading. I was about to asked when she left me, I followed her with my eyes and she was getting near the guy I liked. What is she doing?! I was now getting nervous as they both looked at me, then now they were slowly walking towards me.
Finally they were both in front of me, I did a curtsey then said. "Katelyn Eve. A pleasure meeting you." He smiled then said "Chase Andrews." He turned to Cassidy with a questioning look. Cassidy smiled then said "She's another eligible woman like me. She is like my sister." Now he turned to me, I smiled then said "I hope you're enjoying your night Mr. Andrews." He grabbed my hand then kissed the back of it. "Please, call me Chase." Cassidy then left us there.
"So tell me about yourself." He asked.
"I am Katelyn Eve Jones, I'll be graduating soon and inherit my parents company well actually Cassidy and I will inherit the company." I started.
"How is that so?" His eyes were full of confusion but I smiled at him.
"Our parents are partners and they decided that the both of us will inherit the company." I briefly explained, I don't want to get in the part where we both must marry because maybe I will scare him off or something. "How about you? Could you tell me about yourself?"
"Well there is nothing to say really." He said humbly.
"Oh come on, I know there is something." I insisted. I gave him a pleading smile, and gladly it worked.
"I am Chase Lucas Andrews, but I prefer people calling me Chase. I am bearing the surname of my mother but I have no mother because she died at an early age as for my father, he left us before I was even born. I am now under the care of my grandmother, Allison Andrews. And I have inherited my grandmother's company. I have also graduated last year." As he finished. I grabbed his hand and smiled. I felt sorry for him but I know he doesn't want my pity. "Well, enough drama. How about we have a dance?" He offered his hand and I accepted it then we danced the night away.
