Once Upon a Time, there was a boy named Peter Pan. Or that is what we think. He is best known as the boy who never wanted to grow up. The boy who turned his back to all responsibilities, school, and adulthood. Well, that is a nice way to look at it. But there is always fantasy in the stories, lies, and half-truths. The story of Peter Pan is way far complicated than some British siblings meeting him and having great adventures. The story everyone thinks to know is just the version parents wanted to share because The Author's version was dark.

The story book was lying on Juliette's bed, opened in the "Alice in Wonderland" chapter. Her personal favourite when it comes to choosing a heroin from stories, Alice was her favourite. Ignoring the fact that she was fourteen years old and in her freshman year (because she would be fifteen in November) she kept her story book hidden. She wouldn't like her friends from school to see her liking in books, because they were mean, even as her friends. Having a crush on the immortal boy that can fly and seeing a girl who everyone thinks was crazy as her heroin, she preferred to keep it to herself.

The boy that could fly, Juliette remember the first time she read the story. She immediately loved the boy. But she had also seen his flaws. Peter Pan, a boy with too much power over an island and kids. Ruling the island like a king would rule a kingdom, but in a different way, which adults see childish and stupid.

Adults, so typical of them.

"Juliette!" she heard her mother calling, "Where are you?" she yelled now.

Juliette closed her eyes and waited her turn to respond.

"Yes, mum?" she said loudly, so her mother would be able to hear from such a distance. Then she cough, trying to sound normal since the accent she had wanted to dominate the words.

"Dinner is ready! Come here now."

Dinner meant spending time with her mother and possible new stepfather. The only thing is, there was always a new guy every two months sitting in that chair beside her mother's, that Juliette couldn't remember their names and sometimes confused them and called them the name of the last boyfriend.

She stood up, pausing her music, the one she uses to concentrate while doing homework and sometimes drawing. She headed for the door, but the window's doors opened with the wind, slamming against the wall followed with her white curtains to dance. And there it was again, the mysterious window opening at night, the strange dark figured coming through it, the figured she had seen so many times that she considered a friend. The shadow-like figure pointed at the wall, with a message on it.

"You are late." Juliette said when the shadow appeared doing his entrance. Instead of eyes, it had two yellow marvel-like where eyes are meant be. And it had no mouth. "Are you here to do your routine? Because it is getting a bit old and I still don't understand what you want from me."

And again, the shadow pointed at the wall. But this time, Juliette noticed that the message was being written out of fire.

"This is just like Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets," Juliette mumbled.

And the message now said.

He wants you to come,

To come where the Lost Boys are.

The ones with no real home or love,

A place called Neverland.

"So it is real?" she almost said with excitement. "Then you must be his shadow! I knew it, shadow figures wouldn't just come out of the blue. You are The Shadow. or Pan's Shadow, or so they call you."
