The Icy Peacock Tavern

Legolas and I had been traveling for about five days now. It has been quite an adventure. Not until now did I have a chance to really enjoy traveling, and Legolas has been kind enough to show me some of the beauties of the Misty Mountains.

We decided to take one last stop before entering Lothlorien. This one was actually my idea. Just before we left Mirkwood, Reinya suggested that if we were ever north of Lothlorien, we should check out the “Icy Peacock Tavern,” in Stonesfalls. Apparently it was the best pub in Middle Earth.

I was a little skeptical on how much alcohol she to drink that night, but none the less, I thought it would still be fun to it check out.

As Legolas and I entered the rustic looking pub, we were greeted with the strong stench of alcohol and smoke. The whole building looked as though it had seen better days, but even still it was better than some of the dumps Reinya had taken me into.

The pub was surprisingly busy, and my guess, it was the only one in this small town for the men.

“Why don’t you go find us a table and I will go get us some drinks,” I suggested to Legolas. After the amount of pubs I have been in I became fairly familiar with the types of drinks they serve.

“Alright, I can do that,” Legolas agreed as he walked away to look for a table, as I continued to walk towards the bar.

“We don’t see many elves around here,” One of the young men at the bar noted when he saw me walking over. “Especially not females.”

“Most elves don’t understand the beauty of taverns full of drunk men,” I said in a slightly sarcastic tone.

“Then they are missing out on so much opportunity,” he continued the joke, which made me smile.

“What can I do for you m’lady,” The bartender asked.

“Two Honey Dragons please,” I ordered.

“A Female elf who knows her drinks,” The man at the bar sure sounded surprised. “Now this is a first.”

“There is a first for everything,” I gave him a quick grin before searching my pockets for my money.

“Let me pay,” He offered handing the bartender his money.

“That is very sweet, Mr.-?”

“Strider, call me strider.”

“Thank you Strider, but there is no need,” I pulled out my own money.

“No, I insist,” he said pushing my hand with the money back into my pocket. “The elves have done more for me than you can imagine, and I don’t mind paying for pretty lady’s drink.”

“Your deed is very nice Mr. Strider,” I commented.

“It is no problem, Lady-?”

“Elinya,” I stated. When ever I was in new or unfamiliar places I always felt the need to use my nickname. It was an old habit that I saw no point in breaking.

“Lady Elinya, amin ve' ta [I like it].”It sounded like he spoke elvish very fluently.

“Where did you learn to speak the tongue?” I asked.

“I grew up in Rivendell,” he replied.

“Ahhh, in the House of Lord Elrond.” I noted, “Thank you again Mr. Strider for the drinks.”

“It will probably be the only chance I get to buy a female elf a drink in a tavern.” Strider winked.

I smiled one last time before walking off towards Legolas who found us a table in the back. “Who was that?” Legolas asked looking skeptical, he still did not understand the friendliness of some men.

“A friendly Ranger from the North.” I stated.

"What's a ranger from the north doing down here?" He asked skeptical.

"Does it really matter? We will probably never meet again." I replied giving Legolas the don’t-worry-about-it look. “Now drink up!” I placed his drink in front of him.

“Thanks,” he mumbled taking a sip, then to be pleasantly surprised by it’s taste. “What is it called?”

“The Honey Dragon, it’s one of my favorites,” I added, “Though Reinya thinks it’s too light.”

“Of course she does!” He shook his head.

Once we had finished our drinks, Legolas took our mugs back to bartender. The second he left a drunk man sauntered over towards my table where he sat down.

“Hello there pretty lady,” he attempted to flirt, though it totally failed because his voice slurred with every word. “W-What’s a pretty lady doing by herself in a bar?”

I chuckled under my breath, because I knew that he saw Legolas sitting across from me not seconds ago. But I let him continue because he was quite amusing.

“So when an elf walked into a bar. The hobbit laughed and walked under it.” He tried to made a joke, but it totally failed and I was super confused so I laughed anyways.

(Legolas’s POV)

I was walking back to the table when I noticed Elemmire was laughing, and then as my gaze shifted I saw a man flirting with her. But worst of all I think she was enjoying it.

My eyes narrowed and I walked over to Elemmire, “It’s time to go,” my voice was stern, and she gave me a curious look.

“Okay-,” I took her hand and almost dragged her out of the bar. “What was that for?” She asked once we were outside.

“I did not like that man.” I stated, “He was up to no good.”

She almost laughed, “Legolas he was drunk.”

“Doesn’t mean he can flirt with you!” I exclaimed.

“Oh,” she seemed to come to realization. “You’re jealous.”

“No I’m not.” I tried to defend myself.

“It’s alright if you are, but you have to know that I don’t care for anyone but you,” She stated sweetly before placing a kiss on my cheek. “Now why don’t we get on our way to Lothlorien.”

“Good idea,” I agreed as we walked towards where we left our horses.

Sorry if the chapter is short...

I would just like to say this chapter (and possibly the next one... depends on how i want my story line to go) is inspired by the lovely feathertailsilver, she is such an awesome girl who has been an amazing supporter in this series. Thank you :)

If anyone else has any ideas please don't hesitate to let me know. Even if you are unsure if it is any good, I would still love to hear it!!!

There is a couple things I would also like to mention:

1) Strider (who you should also recognize as Aragorn) Is my imagination of his younger self. So please don't give me any hate for how I decided to write him. (I also realize that he is probably not alive yet due to the fact that it would make him a couple hundred years old in LOTR... but I couln't help myself!!!! He's Aragorn!!!!

2) I apologize if my elvish is incorrect. I tried to find a good translator, but it was hard to tell if it was Tolkien's elvish or someone else's knock off version.

3) I TALKED WITH YOUCANTHANDLE TODAY AND SHE IS GOING TO JOINING ME IN THE WRITING OF THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!! <<< best news ever!!! I am so excited to be working with her again.

Please vote, fan and Comment away :)

Thanks Kt_love
