I, Aduin Dovah am the king of the dragons. My father Qoiddrir Dovah was a shadow dragon and reigning king before me. We lived atop the mountains in a beautiful valley, in peace with all creatures and humans alike. Everyone was welcome to hear the wisdom and past of the dragons, seeing us as legends. Our lives were peaceful until the belfian war when the humans came to the mountains, claiming that we were the threat to all creatures because we were beasts that could go on a rampage and destroy an entire city. They began shooting us down one by one, locking us in cages to be hauled off and executed. My mother was fighting for her life to protect me, souring through the sky when a flaming arrow struck her beautiful red and black wings. She fell to the ground and I saw her roar her magnificent blue flames toward the men coming after me as her final strike. It took 14 humans to pin her down, those monsters executing her right in front of my eyes. My father told me that it is too late to save everyone; that I need to spread my wings and fly past the mountains as far as my wings would take me, to remember that I am part of a proud race that bows down to no one. He told me that I was the king of the dragons now, with tears in my eyes I listened to him and sprouted my black and bloodlust red wings
which were glowing brighter and brighter with the angry fire I felt watching my kind get slaughtered before my eyes. As I was flying away, I turned for a quick second hoping to see my father's brilliant beautiful golden flames one last time, only to see the sun and the bloody red sky. I turned away, trying as hard as I could not to burst into tears. I flew away hoping that I could one day live in peace again. Flying across the sky, I felt weak; as if all my power was being drained from me. I had been flying for 7 days straight, my wings beginning to get heavy, my vision began to blur. Below me, a small village came into view. Before I could react and land, I blacked out. I awoke in a small cottage laying on a bed with bandages around my head and my arm. As I lay there, I noticed someone in the kitchen washing the blood off their hands, mumbling something under their breath. I slowly got up and asked
"Where am I?"
"You're in the small town of Crichton, you fell out of the sky and caused a big crater in the middle of town."
With a shocked expression on my face I quickly asked, "Is everyone okay, was anyone hurt?"
The mysterious person answered with, "Don't worry no one was hurt. We were all in our houses when we heard a boom and saw a cloud of dust in the sky. Everyone was yelling and saying that a boy just fell from the sky."
I remembered that I blacked out. Did they know I was a dragon? Was this mysterious person just fixing me to be hauled off by their army to be executed?

"My name is Finna, what is your name?" "I'm um, well I'm Alduin."
She had a puzzled look on her face.
"That's a peculiar name, I like it, it's very nice to meet you Alduin, Welcome to Crichton."
As we talked, she paced around the small cottage and came to me with new clothes. I asked what they were for.
"Well you can't go outside looking like that, people will think you're a bum." I sat there for a couple of seconds still trying to figure out this Finna, should I trust her, or should I run away?" Her help must have cost her so entrusting her, I asked her to leave the room for a minute so I could get dressed. She nodded her head and walked outside. As I was taking off my clothes, I noticed the scratches and bruises on my body. I turned around to look behind me surprised at the absence of my tail. Now confused I, checked my teeth to see if my fangs were still there relief filling my body when my tongue ran over their pointy edges. I immediately tried to summon my wings to see if they were intact. My wings flew out from behind me; torn in different places. I started putting on the black pants, the black shirt, as I was putting on the cloaked black robe something fell out of it. It was a small dagger which had a Nordic inscription on it, reading, "Only the evil may fall." I strapped it to my side and signaled Finna to come back in.
She looked at me and started to tear up, I quickly asked, "What's wrong Finna?"

"Oh, it's nothing, you just look like someone I loved a long time ago." She looked up at me with a smile and tears in her eyes. I asked his name,
"Gormer, he died a few years ago from a disease."
I asked if she Could show me around Crichton a little bit, I was yearning to meet new people. My curiosity burned for the knowledge of human life away from the raging battle fields from which I was raised upon. She nodded her head and began to walk to the door, I followed behind her. The second I stepped out of the door I was surrounded by people. Their questions instantaneously made my head pound. "Where are you from" "who are you" "what are you doing here?"
"Silence! This boy is injured he does not need you crowding him." Finna yelled out.
Their sighs were caked with disappointment as they shuffled off, heads hanging. A spilt second later Finna grabbed my hand, trailing me behind her down the roads. I watched the humans in awe as we strolled, encapsulated by their seemingly peaceful ways. If I wasn't so exposed to their violent tendencies, I would be fooled by the utopic village I saw before me. Snapping out of my trance I realized that I needed to leave as soon as I possibly could. I frantically told Finna and she instructed me to a place to find the essentials I would need for my travels. I knew I couldn't fly while my wings were torn like this, but I still needed to get as far from the mountains as I could no matter the cost, to put as much distance between me and the war.
